The Cause of Disease and Death

My Chorale PicThe underlying cause of disease and death is living on earth instead of in heaven. And now that I have your attention, let me share with you a true story.

When I was a young man in Catholic seminary, about 15 years of age, I had a most peculiar and profound quest for a young man aspiring for a meaningful life purpose. I wanted to know what we had to do in order to stop dying. I had read the story of Creation in the Bible and was well aware of what brought death into human experience, although I didn’t understand it. Eating the “fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” Really? Just eating a “forbidden fruit” has brought disease and death to the entire human species?! And an apple, at that! One of our most nutritious foods! Something wasn’t right about this story in Genesis. If it was true, however, then there must be a way to undo what our first parents did to merit such a stiff punishment.

In my simple and naïve way of thinking, it seemed to me that if eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil causes death, then it seemed to follow that we could simply stop eating this fruit and we would stop dying. I brought this curious thought to my spiritual director and he didn’t show as much interest in my mental musings as I was having at a rather deep level. He simply told me to stop thinking about such nonsense and study my Latin instead. That was that.

But that wasn’t that for me. The question did not go away but rather became a burning quest for an answer, for someone to come along and say “That’s right, and we can do just that!” I had to put my quest on the back burner for more practical and necessary endeavors, like studying for exams.

If you ask the right question, I was later to discover, you will receive the right answer. On May 20, 1967 I was attending a seminar in Applied Ontology in Baton Rouge, Louisiana when my quest came off the back burner. Ontology is the metaphysical study of the nature of being and of reality. Applied Ontology is the art and science of living the true nature of being and of reality. In other words, being who and what you really are—and not just in theory. The facilitator and dynamic speaker was Dr. William H. Bahan of the Universal Institute of Applied Ontology in Loveland, Colorado—a man who would become my professional mentor and most beloved friend. He was a doctor of Chiropractic, which I had become—but that’s another story.

Half way through the seminar, Dr. Bahan started talking about our responsibility as healers and teachers—which is what the title of doctor means—which was to bring about an increase of life in those who came to us for the healing of their ills. His chief reference turned out to be the Book of Genesis and the Story of Creation, including more specifically the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden where the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil were planted.  You can only imagine how this got my attention.

He then began to speak from a certain place of authenticity and uncanny authority about what had transpired in the Garden of Eden that led to “The Fall” of Adam and Eve from grace—the so-called “Original Sin.” I had never heard the story told from such a clear and meaningful perspective. Bill simply revealed the truth of what had happened—and, more to the point, continues to happen—to bring diseases and death into the experience of human beings.  The Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he allowed, is the “design tree” of the “Creative Process,” and it wasn’t external to Man in some fruit orchard. It is part of our very make up as stewards of the cycles of creation, which was the very reason and purpose for God creating Man in His own image and likeness. As long as we were true stewards and ate only of the fruit of the Tree of Life, we would fare well in Eden. But if we ate of the fruit of the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, we would “surely die.”

Then he said what I had been waiting for someone to say for a decade or more. In order to stop dying, he went on to say, we needed to stop eating this “forbidden fruit,” which he defined simply as “judgment.”  Judging the evolving forms that are being brought forth by Life through the Creative Process and then interfering with that process by imposing our own self-interested ideas as to how things could evolve if we just made this or that alteration in life’s natural and perfect design. It made such profound sense. The word “evil,” Bill explained, is more like “evol.” Evol is an unfolding of life’s design through the Creative Process. Evil is produced when we interfere with life’s design in order to produce something other than what the Creative Process had in Mind and in store for us.

It was primarily an act of disobedience and self-active determination that derailed Man’s stewardship of Creation and his enjoyment of life in the Garden of Eden. As a consequence, our creative powers were greatly diminished and we soon found ourselves out of Eden and laboring for our survival on Earth. Eden was a Heavenly abode, and we had much different forms than the animal forms we have now. These forms are subject to the evolutionary cycles of birth and death. But we are still immortal beings incarnate in these mortal bodies, which we have to shed in order to return to Paradise. In Paradise there is no death, no disease, and no suffering. One may rightly wonder why it is that we spend so much effort trying to stave off death.

This blew my mind. I was ecstatic. Could it be that simple? I didn’t sleep for three days. My quest was complete. Well, almost complete. All that remained was for me to prove it out in my living. That entailed, first of all, seeing how this applied to daily living and how I was continuing to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evol; how we human beings were still manipulating the natural creative processes and thwarting them to please our own self-centered purposes.  Then, upon seeing how I was eating this death-dealing fruit, to change my behavior.

It’s easy to see how we disobey the Creator and thwart the natural design in the way we grow our food by genetic engineering and manipulation of the soil with chemicals to produce plenty of food. Stewardship has been almost entirely abandoned for the sake of producing product. We’ve become very product oriented, the ultimate product being money and material wealth—the end made to justify the means in our irrational thinking. We’ve got to feed the masses. Yet, surely we continue to die.

But how does this apply to the way we care for our bodies. Even in our health care we are oriented in results rather than process, in relieving the symptoms of disease rather than engaging and stewarding a healing process. We have settled, it seems, for relief from our pain and suffering in lieu of healing our bodies and our lives.

THE GARDEN IS WITH US

In the Biblical story of the Fall, Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent, who alone got the curse of God upon its head. The serpent represents the brain and spinal chord, and the tree of life, along with the design tree of the knowledge of how life evolves and grows Creation, are both within our body temples. The tree of life is the endocrine system, which delivers creative energy and life’s messages to the cells by way of hormones, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evol is the brain and central nervous system which administers the design and control of life in the body. The Garden is our hearts, in which we are to keep a sweet and heavenly atmosphere for the gifts of spirit to be born through us. Our minds and bodies are the capacities for rendering stewardship in the natural world. But our consciousness is the most important aspect of our being because it can change levels. It’s our capacity to know who we are as divine beings. It can move down a level to create hell and up a level to create heaven. Heaven, then, is nothing more than a state of consciousness, as is hell.

Wow! All of this and more was packed into that weekend seminar, so you can see why I was blown away. It was way more answer to my quest than I had ever expected to receive. And I had to scramble in order to make some drastic and fundamental changes in how I practiced my healing profession. I had to switch from being the fixer, a masculine approach, to being a healer, a more feminine approach.  The fixer imposes change by manipulation. The healer coaches the client in how to nurture the healing process so that the body is allowed to make its own appropriate changes.  The former is oriented in product and results. The latter is oriented in process and growth. The one is reactive; the other proactive.

GETTING BACK INTO THE GARDEN

An interesting aspect of the story of Eden is the placing of a cherubim with a flaming sword that turned every way in the Garden guarding the way to the Tree of Life. No one could get back into the Garden and eat of the Tree of Life without encountering the angel with the flaming sword. The angel is who we are in reality. The flaming sword is the truth of love. It is the truth of love that gives birth to life. Without love and truth life is not possible, in the same way that a child cannot be born without a father and a mother. The qualities of the father and mother are reflected in the child. Life is characterized by Love and Truth. In order to know life, in other words, one must be true to the truth of love in the expression of one’s living. It is life that generates health in our bodies. It is a lack of life that produces disease and death. It is that simple.

Therefore, the only way back into the Garden of Paradise, is to let it be born through us from within. The “kingdom of heaven” is within us, the Teacher instructed us. As we are consistent in expressing the qualities of heaven in our living, heaven begins to appear around us.  Our world is a reflection of what’s in our consciousness, our heaven in other words. As above, so below. I will leave you with a sampling of what Dr. Bill Bahan offered us that weekend:

 Bill BahanWe are responsible to allow life to be born. And life is born in the parenthood of love and truth. There’s the flaming sword. That’s a great symbol. You can’t come to the Tree of Life, you can’t know life, and you can’t know yourself—because you are life. That’s who you are. You can’t know yourself except you come through that flaming sword.

 If there is anything in your expression that is not true to the truth of love, outside! You can’t get in. You can’t get by that sword if you’re identified with complaint or unhappiness or resentment or fear or jealousy. Outside! You can’t get in. The moment you’re true to the truth of love, you walk right through.

If you’re a true servant of love, of the Lord, you’re going to win. You’re going to win! I know that in relation to my service. I’m going to win. Win all the time. Love never faileth. Those who are true to the truth of love, they never fail. No such thing as failure in the Kingdom. Failures are for those who don’t want to live in the Kingdom on Earth. Those who live in it, they move and have their being with an absolute spirit of victory.

Such was the victorious spirit of Dr. William Bahan. His words were a flaming sword that turned every way, and only by being genuinely true to the truth of love could one stand comfortably in the shadow of his presence. He was love and truth in action. He was Life itself. And so are you. Come into the Garden and enjoy the gifts of Love, one of which is health; another is happiness; yet another is unconditional acceptance of who you are. Love does not judge. Love never faileth. Let love radiate without concern for results.

“Founded On TONE”

DD_Palmer1-father-pof-chiropracticsDaniel David Palmer founded Chiropractic in 1895 when he realigned the cervical spine on his janitor, Harvey Lillard, and restored his hearing.  Dr. Palmer, a magnetic healer, wrote these words on the title page of his first book: “Founded On TONE.” I published my booklet Rediscovering The Soul of Chiropractic in 2007.  In it I wrote these words:

In D.D.’s first book these words appear on the title page: “Founded On Tone.” In the pages that follow he proclaims, almost charismatically, that life is tone in human beings and that tone is health. In his second book, Daniel confides how initially he leaned toward the theory that nerves conveyed the vibrational “Tone” of life, and that spinal aberrations stretched and otherwise stressed the nerve fibers thereby distorting the frequency of that vibrational tone.

“An impulse travels over a nerve by waves known as vibration, similar as a pulse-wave, only more rapid . . . . Nerves, like material substances, are composed of particles, atoms or molecules, which vibrate, oscillate. When nerves are in a normal condition, known as tone—normal tension, normal elasticity and normal renitency [tonicity]—impulses are transmitted by vibration in a normal manner with the usual force . . . . Motor and sensory impulses are transmitted over the nervous system by molecular vibration.” (The Chiropractor 1914)

WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND

Magnetic healing has come around again. I’ve been practicing it since the 1970’s.  We call it “attunement,” a term that has come to be used by Reiki and other energy work healing methodologies.  Basically, we are working with the energetic body and through the energetic body with the physical body.  It is the energetic body that holds the patterns of health and disease that manifest in the physical body.  The principle at work is simple: change the vibration in the energy body and you change the manifestation in the physical body. The ultimate goal is to lift the energetic vibration of the physical body to a level where dissonant patterns of disease cannot manifest but only harmonious patterns of health. 

SOUND HEALING COMES OF AGE

Such words as “TONE” and “dissonant” and “harmonious” imply music and sound.  Sound healing has come of age and has even entered into main-stream medicine.  Of course the majority of sound healers are in the “Alternative” and “New Age” milieu.  I received my certification in sound healing in 2009 at Jonathan Goldman’s Healing Sounds Intensive out of Boulder, Colorado. This is a nine-day workshop intensive that is held every year and draws up to a hundred sound healers from all over the world to participate in a transformative journey into the vibrational world of Sacred Sound. This is only one such sound healing school offering training in this vibrational healing methodology.

THE TONE IS LOVE 

I just returned from an “Energetics of Healing” attunement intensive at Oakwood Retreat Center in Selma, Indiana  and will be flying up to Portland, Oregon this weekend to participate in another attunement intensive entitled “RESONANCE –THE HEART OF ATTUNEMENT.”  There’s another word that relates to music and sound.  Resonance is a principle at work throughout creation.  All of creation resonates to the TONE of Life sounding and resounding throughout the Cosmos. It’s the TONE of LOVE. 

THE PINEAL GATEWAY

Over the years that I’ve been exploring the frequencies of the sacred anatomy of our seven endocrine glands, I’ve noticed that a shift has taken place in the tonal frequency of the energy radiating from the pineal gland located in the center of the brain. That shift has gone a half step up from an F to an F#.  In his wonderful book SACRED SOUND, Ted Andrews writes in his historical account of Sacred Sound’s ancient past . . .

The Chinese healers used “singing stones”–thin flat pieces of jade which would emit various musical tones when struck. One of these tones was designated the kung or great tone of Nature. It corresponds in our own musical scale to the tone of F or F-sharp. The Sufis considered Hu to be the ultimate creative sound. The Tibetans considered the tones F-sharp, A and G to be the three powerful and sacred tones of the world. 

The corresponding color of F# is Violet.  I see a violet light pulsing and contracting to a fine focus in the dark space of my closed eyes when attuning the pineal gland with the Spirit of Love. This light is particularly strong when someone is sharing attunement with me and focusing the current in the area of my pineal gland.

There is an energetic gateway here in this gland that opens up to let in sacred energy from the divine spirit that is incarnate in each and every one.  This is the portal of light through which the angel enters his or her body temple after the temple is complete at the end of the third month of embryonic development.  Incarnation takes place in the womb when the house of being is complete and ready to receive the lord or lady of the house.  It is as well the portal for excarnation and ascension at the end of our earthly journey.  It is where the “silver cord” attaches that leads back to the realms of light.  If you wish to own a quartz crystal bowl, let it be an F-sharp bowl. I highly recommend it. 

Our bodies are founded on TONE. They resonate to the frequency of Love. The frequency of Love is F-sharp in my experience. The harmonic chord of F-sharp is F# A# C#.  If you want a little magic in your life, your health, your spiritual practice, then obtain three quartz crystal bowls that “sing” these three sacred tones. Set them in your meditation space and place them in the morning when you arise and just before bedtime. You will be amazed at how these sacred tones calm and bring focus to your mind as your pineal gland resonates with them.

Depression: Its Causes and Cures, part 3: The Endocrine Connection

Oh, this is too good to not pass on. Just when I’m preparing to write this third post on depression, Spirtual Ecology posted this amazing study on Facebook. No wonder there’s so much depression on the planet.  We’re using up all our oxygen bitching and complaining. 

New Study Finds Most Of Earth’s Oxygen Used For Complaining

SEATTLE—Following a multiyear study of atmospheric gases and their role in organic processes on earth, a team of researchers at the University of Washington reported this week that the majority of the oxygen on the planet is used for complaining. “By carefully measuring the processes of gas exchange, the respiratory capacities of living organisms, and resulting metabolic activities, we discovered that most oxygen molecules in Earth’s troposphere are used for the purposes of sighing, whining, and most commonly, complaining,” said the study’s lead author, James Lauderio, who noted that an adult human converts an average of 19 cubic feet of oxygen per day into petty grievances about acquaintances, nitpicking objections about popular media or the weather, criticisms about tasks they are performing, and general fussing with family members. “And while humans are the species most responsible for transforming oxygen into complaints, it’s important to note that other animal life, including mammals, birds, and reptiles, also convert massive amounts of O2 into displeased growls and screeches about their habitats and food sources.” Lauderio added that the research team has not been able to determine a verifiable upper limit to the number of complaints that can be produced from a single inhalation, with many human subjects reportedly producing upwards of 40 or more complaints with each breath.

Chronic complaint can lead not only to oxygen depletion but to clinical depression. It has to do with your hormones. 

DEPRESSION:THE ENDOCRINE CONNECTION

Hormones are designed to convey spirits into and through the body temple. They are produced by spirit and not by the brain. Your endocrine system of seven ductless glands is the sole domain of the spirit– your spirit.  St. John describes them as “lamps of fire” in his Book of Revelation:

And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices; and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. (Rev. 4:5)

The “throne” in your body temple is your Pineal Gland, the seat of  the Spirit of Love. “Fire” is an apt way of depicting the expression of spirit through the human capacity of the heart. The heart is the capacity for expression spirit, which issues forth as a flame at times . . . even as “lightnings and thunderings.” These lightnings and thunderings can be terribly destructive or terribly creative. It’s our choice as to which they will be.

I made a tone-setting statement in the first post of this series on depression which I will bring forward here.  

Depression is fundamentally about the suppression of energy.  In a certain sense, it is a spiritual event. All energy is love. Love is all that IS. Energy expresses through form, and when that expression is thwarted, suppressed or shut down, pressure begins to build behind the dam of resistance to whatever is trying to find expression, which is love or joy.  The expression of love and joy allows for release of this energy. Elation is the result. On the other hand, suppression of love and joy prevents the release of this energy. Depression is then the result.

This is fundamentally and biochemically true.  It’s also bio-energetically true.  The life energy that courses through your body will flow in the direction of your response to environmental events; even if those events are feelings stewing inside your heart and mind.  Your response to those events is what determines the production of hormones in your endocrine glands. (See my first post of this series for how this works.) Those hormones, by design and purpose, will be encoded by the kind of spirit that is brewing in your heart to deliver your message to your world. That spirit will accurately manifest the thought forms and intentions that you project in your expression. The end result will be your creation . . . and your experience.  Look down in complaint and criticism and you will go down. Even your words fall to the ground. And you will become depressed. Your circumstance will deteriorate even further. 

By the same principle of response, look up in praise and thanksgiving and you will go up. Even your words will rise to inspire and uplift your circumstance rather than cast it down in complaint and dissatisfaction. And you will quickly come out of your depression into elation. That’s the way the principle of response works. We move in the direction of our response. It’s a great principle. We can use it to our advantage or disadvantage, especially when we are under pressure. Just like the proverbial bar of soap that will pop up or down depending on the direction in which you point it. Look down and go down. Look up and go up. In this principle lies the cause and cure of depression. All other approaches from without in are but therapies, which have their use. 

IMBALANCE IN BRAIN CHEMISTRY AN EXCUSE

I frequently hear what I will call the excuse that a person’s depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. This can be so and is the case in what is called “clinical depression.”  Brain chemistry imbalance is at the root of such conditions as manic depression and bipolar disorders and paranoid schizophrenia. Well, what system produces brain chemistry? The endocrine system of hormonal glands. Who controls the endocrine system? I do. You do. We control our hormonal output by the spirits and attitudes we harbor and express through our feelings, thoughts words and actions. We are not victims subject to our brain chemistry and hormones.  We are the masters of our brains and hormones.  In the case of depression and all other forms of dis-ease in our body-mind-spirit continuum, we are their perpetrators not their victims. We victimize our endocrine system and brains. By the same token, we are their saviors and redeemers. 

I am reminded of a story my mentor, Dr. Bill Bahan, used in his whole-health symposiums. This Italian fellow came to work with his lunch box every day.  When he opened his lunch box to eat his lunch, he would always complain: “Ugh! Cream-a- cheese sandwiches! I hate-a-cream-a-cheese sandwiches!” Every day, when he sat down with his buddies to eat lunch, he would open his lunch box and exclaim: “Ugh! Cream-a-cheese sandwiches? I hate-a-cream-a-cheese sandwiches!” Well, after several days of hearing the same complaint every day, one of his buddies said: “Every day you bring the same lunch to work and complain about your cream-a-cheese sandwiches. Why don’t you have your wife make you a different sandwich?”  To which this fellow replied: “My wife?!  I’m-a-not-a married. I make-a-them myself!”

Laughter’s the best medicine, especially when we can laugh at ourselves. I’m not suggesting in this series of posts that appropriate medications should not be taken in cases of clinical depression and bipolar disorders of the brain. What I am offering is an opportunity to look more deeply for the cause and cure of depression. While you’re medicating your brain, take time to meditate on cause. If complaint brings you down, then try a little thankfulness. Some say they can’t be thankful and optimistic “under the circumstances” they find themselves.  To that I would say: “Come up above your circumstances by expressing a spirit of joy and appreciation.  Will it work? you ask. You won’t know unless and until you try it. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, to use an old cliche.  

The Biblical guidance is: “In all things give thanks.” That would be a constant and continual source of blessing to your body, you brain and your heart. A greatly needed blessing to our world.

Depression: Its Causes and Cures, part 1: The Blood Sugar Connection

The post that piqued her interest was one I published back in January under the title “Cancer Cure and the pH Factor.”   I am duly impressed. You might find her blog interesting as well.

Let’s talk about depression and its causes and cures. Orthodox medicine treats the brain for depression. The underlying cause of depression, however, has less to do with the brain and more to do with the body — especially the gut, as we will see. The brain may control the body’s functions via the central nervous system, with the help of biofeedback through the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. But the brain is nourished by the body and is only as healthy as the body.  

CAUSE AT A DEEPER LEVEL

Depression is fundamentally about the suppression of energy.  In a certain sense, it is a spiritual event. All energy is love. Love is all that IS. Energy expresses through form, and when that expression is thwarted, suppressed or shut down, pressure begins to build behind the dam of resistance to whatever is trying to find expression, which is love or joy.  The expression of love and joy allows for release of this energy. Elation is the result. On the other hand, suppression of love and joy prevents the release of this energy. Depression is then the result.

This is a simplified explanation of the essential dynamics of depression at a core level, and must be kept in mind as we consider the various causes of resistance that results in depression.   There are at least four areas that need to be taken in consideration when searching for the cause of a person’s depression: 1) blood sugar, 2) the liver, 3) the gut flora, 4) the endocrine glands (hormonal response to stress).  These four areas overlap in most cases of depression, so I will be addressing more than one area at times. I will cover the entire territory in two or three consecutive posts.

DEPRESSION AND BLOOD SUGAR

Blood sugar imbalance is highly suspect in cases of acute  and chronic depression. Low blood sugar — clinically known as hypoglycemia — deprives the cells of energy they need to function. This includes brain cells, which depend on sugar for energy entirely. A classic symptom of low blood sugar is sugar cravings.  If you crave sugar or shake if you miss a meal, you can be sure that you have hypoglycemia.  Hypoglycemia, of course, can lead to diabetes if not corrected. So, let’s look at hypoglycemia, how it can cause depression, and what one can do to reverse this dis-ease.

Blood sugar is regulated by the endocrine system, specifically the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland, and the adrenal glands. The Islets of Langerhans in the pancreas play a non-regulating role of taking blood sugar and attaching an insulin molecule to it as an escort into the cells where is can be used as fuel. The liver is also involved, as it’s a storehouse for hormones, glucose, iron and several other important nutrients, not to mention its primary function of detoxifying the blood stream of metabolic waste, which includes unused hormones. We’ll come back to that later, but first, let’s look at the three chief endocrine regulators, which make up a family of endocrine glands called the HPA Axis. In depression, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is upregulated with a down-regulation of its negative feedback controls. Corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) is hypersecreted from the hypothalamus and induces the release of adrenocorticotropin hormone (ACTH) from the pituitary. ACTH interacts with receptors on adrenocortical cells and cortisol is released from the adrenal glands; adrenal hypertrophy can also occur. Release of cortisol into the circulation has a number of effects, including elevation of blood glucose. The negative feedback of cortisol to the hypothalamus, pituitary and immune system is impaired. This leads to continual activation of the HPA axis and excess cortisol release. Cortisol receptors become desensitized leading to increased activity of the pro-inflammatory immune mediators and disturbances in neurotransmitter transmission. If you had a difficult time following the sequence of events, don’t sweat it, so did I. Body chemistry is a miracle that, like all miracles, cannot be fully grasped by the human mind. What you just read above is someone’s explanation based on a somewhat limited understanding of the complexity of human endocrinology.  As a brilliant colleague, Dr. Janet Lang, once put it in a seminar on functional endocrinology, the endocrine glands are a family and behave like one. We might think we gain understanding of them by taking them aside and studying their function and behavior.  Put them back with their siblings and their behavior changes as they interact with them.  So, we need to understand and treat them as part of a family and not as isolated hormonal glands. (This is why blood tests for thyroid function, for instance, are virtually useless in gaining an understanding of this gland’s output. Saliva tests are far more accurate.)

Now I’ll give you the simplified explanation along with what can be done to correct this one cause of depression using food supplements and herbs.

THE HPA AXIS 

The hypothalamus acts as a mediator between environmental activity and hormonal response to that activity.  Environmental activity is perceived through your five senses and sent via your central nervous system as information to the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus receives, interprets and evaluates this information, then sends signals to the pituitary gland in the form of hormonal precursors that solicit a response in this Master Gland that results in the production of stimulating hormones — such as TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), ACTH (adrenocorticotropin hormone), and FSH (ovarian follicle stimulating hormone), etc. These hormone precursors are sent to the appropriate ductless hormonal glands in the body via the bloodstream, which then produce hormones that will trigger an appropriate response in body cells , depending on the type of activity being called for. 

The environment, by the way, includes the internal terrain of the physical body as well as the mental and emotional terrain and the activities therein.  An example of the physical terrain’s influence on the HPA Axis would be poor nutrition and toxicity resulting in a health crisis.  An example of the mental and emotional influence on the HPA Axis would be arousal of the stress fight or flight response simply by thoughts about your seemingly impossible situation in life, be it your health, your job, your marriage or relationships, or any number of stressful life situations.  Think about it long enough while doing nothing about it results in chronic stress. It also frustrates and confuses the hypothalamus, which hypes up its secretion of CRF precursors to the pituitary, and exhausts the adrenal cortex causing the pituitary to hype up its production of ACTH to stimulate the exhausted adrenal glands.  So you can see how these glands act in concert with one another and not on their own. 

HELPFUL NUTRITIONAL AND HERBAL SUPPORT

If you know your have sugar handling issues — either hypoglycemia or diabetes — then you can help your body restore balance in this area so that energy can be released to the cells of the brain. This is treating the underlying cause of one form of depression. Here are my recommendations: 

  1. First of all, the liver needs to be detoxified, which means the pathways in the liver need to be opened up to allow chemical processes to work their miracle on metabolic waste, mainly devitalizing it and eliminating it from the body. DIETARY CONSIDERATIONS

  1. Hypoglycemia conditions need frequent meals and snacks.  Five small meals daily is the recommendation. Some protein needs to be included in these meals and snacks.  Nuts are a good source of protein and are much better than sugars and carbohydrates as they help raise blood sugar without spiking insulin.
  2. Eliminate all processed foods and refined carbohydrates entirely from your diet. 
  3. For Type II Diabetes (a.k.a. insulin-resistance diabetes), refrain from sugars and starches entirely for 30 days. Eat only foods that are low on the glycemic index. The rationale here is to free up insulin receptor sites on the cells by cutting back on insulin production by the pancreas, which occurs every time you eat sweets and starches. It will take approximately 30 days to use up the sugar-laden insulin floating around in your blood stream. The cells are really not “resistant” to insulin, they simply have no room left to receive any more sugar-laden insulin . . . thus the need to stop spiking insulin. A liver detox could be done at least once a year.
  4. For Type I Diabetics (a.k.a. insulin-dependent diabetes), the best you can do is give ample support to your body’s sugar handling systems and, of course, observe a diabetic diet. You would be wise to eliminate all refined carbohydrate and processed foods from your diet. Nutritional therapeutic support could be incorporated into your daily regimen of meds, especially for the insulin-producing B cell in your pancreas which may be able to be regenerated if they are not entirely burned out. Finding Balance in a “Sexed Universe”

Tony Pics for SA Book We’ve been considering the spiritual essences within and behind the sacred anatomy of our endocrine system.  I would like to expand this consideration to encompass the larger context of life in which these delicate glands in our bodies play dynamic roles in bringing about homeostasis.

Homeostasis in health is the state of balance between a man/woman and his/her environment.  Health is a state of balance.  Dis-ease is a state of imbalance.

I’ve been reading some of Walter Russell’s books — and blogging on them in my HealingTones.org blog. I’m presently half way through his 1947 work The Secret of Light — a very mentally stimulating book — but  also spiritually enlightening. The author truly did tap the secrets of the Universe.  He brings God the Creator right down into Creation where one can see God, not aloof from his creation but quite intimately involved in it and eternally creating it . . . through us.  

BALANCE = REST

The idea that spawned this post came in something Russell said about balance.  All things in the universe, he writes, seek balance.  The implication in this statement is that all things are naturally in a state of unbalance.  Balance, Russell writes, is a state of rest.  In what he calls a “two-way electrical universe,” opposites, by nature, oppose one another while seeking a state of rest by nullifying one another.  

In electricity, for example, a positive current seeks negative grounding, where it comes to rest in a state of balance. The same dynamic plays out in an electrical storm.  Clouds build up a positive charge which they discharge in a bolt of lightning toward the negative, receptive  ground.  The result is light, which is neither positive or negative.  These polarities are nullified by their union.  Light is the balanced state where opposites come to rest and lose their individual charge and identity.

Opposites can never unite unless they return to their original state of balance and rest, where they are no longer what they were. They become each other.  Hot becomes cold by condensing and cold becomes hot by expanding.  Night becomes day and day becomes night.  Life becomes death in order to be reborn as life. Heaven becomes earth and earth returns to heaven.  Water becomes vapor and vapor returns to water. The invisible becomes visible only to return to being invisible.  The only reality that doesn’t change is God.  God is eternal Balance.  

Human beings seek health when they are sick.  We become sick when we get out of balance with Universal Law.  For example, by divine design we carry a positive spiritual charge in relation to our environment.  Our worlds are negative, or responsive, toward us, their creators. We lose that dynamic creator-creation relationship the moment we become negative, or responsive, toward them, in effect making our worlds, rather than God, our positive point of orientation and looking to receive our cues for directions in life from circumstances rather than from within. In other words, we reverse our polarity by turning our face of response outward.  In that state, we become reactive rather than proactive.  

This sets up an unnatural dynamic between us and our worlds. We really can’t make the material world positive in its charge.  By nature it is negative toward the Positive One who made it. We can only reverse our own polarity, in effect turning our backs on God.  In so doing, we lose our radiance — and eventually our health.  Our worlds do not respond to us lacking our positive dominion and stewardship.  Life becomes a struggle of extracting sustenance from our worlds by the sweat of our brows.  (Seems I’ve read that somewhere in Genesis.) This unbalance is finally resolved in death.  Death is where our bodies finally find the rest they sought throughout their existence.  “Rest in peace,” we say — but only for a little while until the atoms that make up our bodies are resurrected back into another life form, perhaps human.  

That creator-creation dynamic is restored the moment we restore our natural polarity by turning our face of response back to God and extending a radiant dominion of positive energy toward our environment. That quality of dominion is magnetic and irresistible.  It’s Love.  Atoms and molecules will come together in healthy patterns of design and balanced bodily function very quickly around such a quality of spirit in expression through us.  Our endocrine system will produce sufficient and appropriate hormones that will gladly carry those positive energies and messages in a stream of balanced chemistry to all the cells in the body.  Vitality and harmony will prevail once again — as it was when we were innocent children — in our house of being.  

EXTENDING LOVE’S DOMINION 

By virtue of the same dynamic, life in our day-to-day relationships and activities is a state of opposites and therefore of unbalance.  Male and female, for example, are opposite energies.  They oppose one another.  That’s their natural state of creative stress. They seek union in order to procreate, and in doing so they become one another, negate one another, lose themselves in one another.  Men no longer remain male and women no longer female.  They become Love, if only for a few minutes, creating a new life form. If only they would retain that shared identity in Love after their sexual union and extend loving dominion in their daily affairs, the world would quickly be transformed. Then, male energy could continue to be itself and female energy itself in an ongoing, natural relationship of opposites balancing one another rather than competing with one another for power and control.

Ideally and ultimately the balancing of these two energies needs to take place within the individual. It occurs easily as the mind is consumed in knowing Truth and how things work with Life,  and the heart is content in its love affair with Love and ceases looking for love elsewhere. It occurs instantly when I remember who I AM and honor my lordship over my creation. 

In politics, liberals oppose conservatives. That’s by constitutional, as well as natural, design.  Standing alone, they are each in a state of unbalance. Standing together in opposition to one another, they create a dynamic state of what could and should be creative stress.  It has historical rather created a seemingly insurmountable impasse.

A state of unbalance finds balance only by returning to a state of rest.  Agreement — even agreeing to disagree — creates a state of rest.  

I find it interesting that in this political battle over gun control, the conservative party wants liberation from gun-control while the liberal party wants conservation and tightening of gun-control — and the twain shall never meet. That is, unless they come to love and want the same thing, hopefully the truth, whatever that is in this situation. The people, whom they represent, are divided on that score, a division we see reflected in Congress. Until we the people come to a resolution on the basis of what the right thing to do is, the two parties will remain unbalanced in their individual views and in their polarized charge around those views, and the issue will remain unresolved. Without agreement, there can be no balance, and the painfully divisive state of unrest in our nation will persist, all stemming from a prevailing fear that the government is trying to take away our constitutional right to bear arms, a “right” that is at odds with Universal Law.  

The solution to the tragedies produced by violence is not to be found and legislated by Congress.  It will come about naturally when we stop making allowances for it in our consciousness. Data shows you are four times more likely to die by a bullet — either by your hand or by that of your spouse or other family member — if you make allowance for a gun in your home as a means of self-defense. It’s the old proverb, “Live by the sword and die by the sword.”  

Opposites can unite only if they return to their original state of balance and rest.  Love is our origin. Only in Love can we find our place of balance and rest. When our love is for truth, the result of our actions will be peace — and life will prevail.  

A “SEXED ELECTRIC UNIVERSE”

That is how Walter Russell describes the world in which we live.  Electricity is created by divided wave action arising out of God’s Mind conveying his Idea of Creation.  One wave carries a positive charge and the other wave carries a negative charge.  One compresses while the other expands. One is masculine and the other feminine. Their passion to unite and discharge  depends upon the intensity and build up of their electrical charge. The farther away from a state of balance through union they are, the more they “sex” one another and the more irresistible is their desire for union, which can be rather violent if one is super-charged and not discharging energy in other creative ways — or is mentally or emotionally compromised.  As Russell describes it . . .

Sex is the division of a balanced equilibrium condition into two equally unbalanced conditions which negate each other periodically for the purpose of repeating the two unbalanced conditions.

Sex is the creative principle. It is the dual desire force in Mind (God) for expressing its One Idea (for Creation). Without a division of the one unconditioned Light into two seemingly conditioned lights (male-female, positive-negative, father-mother), Creation could not be.

Sex is not a thing, it is a condition of a thing.  An electrically balanced condition of anything is sexless, whether it be a man, woman, electric battery, or the atmosphere. A sexed condition is an unbalanced condition. 

Using the examples of a short-circuited battery losing its charge and becoming “dead,” and that of the calm after an electrical storm that has discharged the clouds and the atmosphere, Russell makes his case for how the desire for balance is satisfied in nature, and when balance is attained at rest, motion is no longer possible.

The sexed condition of unbalance in man is exactly the same in all phenomena in Nature. An unbalanced sex condition in man demands balancing in the same way, and its violence depends upon its electrical measure of unbalance. When that desire is satisfied and balance is restored, man is as sexless as the dead storage battery and for the same reason.

He offers this as a re-conditioning:

Man is recharged into a sexed condition by his heartbeat, by the food he eats and by his inbreathing-outbreathing. These are the generators which recharge the “dead storage batteries” of all the universe into sexed conditioned “live batteries.”

Electricity — which Russell sees as the wave activity of God’s knowing and thinking Mind — is what conditions all “sexless matter into its sexed condition, by dividing a pressureless condition into two opposite pressures which desire release from their opposition.”  He then offers this astute observation and perspective:

All of the work of the universe is performed as a result of that desire in unbalanced matter to seek rest in a balanced condition.  

This is a sexed electric universe in every effect of motion, whether it be in the heart of a giant sun or in the petal of a meadow violet.

Every action of motion in the universe is a result of sex desire for motion from a state of rest, or for rest from a state of motion. 

One can see the function of emotions in this light as a means of discharging energy charge around issues of deep interest. Russell brings it all back to God in this final paragraph:

These two sex desires of electric action and reaction are the result of the two desires of the Father to manifest His One Light through the extended father-mother lights which interweave His idea of Creation into the multiple forms of that idea and void them periodically for the purpose of repeating them. 

Finally, he sheds light on the eternal birth-death-rebirth cycle from seed to form back to seed.

The desire for two-way motion in equal action and reaction is reflected in the dual electric desire to give for regiving, and to unfold for refolding.

What a beautiful perspective.  This is why I love reading Walter Russell. He has left us a priceless legacy of understanding with regard to the secrets of the universe.

Seven Glands for Seven Spirits, Part 8: The Spirit of the New Earth

Our anatomy is sacred because it is created by God to serve a sacred purpose.  That purpose is the incarnation of God Being on Earth for creative work.  Our bodies belong to God and not to individual human egos.  When they are not used for their sacred purpose they become confused, depressed and ill.  In short season they disintegrate and return to the sacred Mother Earth which gave them form.  The incarnate sacred being is then released from its prison and freed up to return to its Heavenly Father who created it immortal, after his own immortal image, and godlike after his own divine likeness.  

While it yet lives, the spirit of God works, to the extent it is allowed, through specifically appointed centers of sacred energy in order to express itself and maintain life in the body temple. We’ve been considering these sacred seals of the endocrine system in the light of their spiritual essence and purpose.  Seven spirits before this living throne of God are solely responsible for the balanced and creative function of our seven hormonal glands. It is through them that the commands of love are sent forth into the body, each gland’s hormones designed to carry out its specific mission.  The hormones of the gonads are designed to carry out the commands of the Spirit of the New Earth.

Here is the last verse of my poem The Seven Spirits of God :

I am the Spirit of the New Earth

I welcome the substance by which I create all things new

in patience and right expectancy

I am the spirit of love

In my book  Sacred Anatomy are these words about the character of this spirit:

Attitude of the New Earth:  Patience and Right Expectancy                       

    The Spirit of the New Earth brings with it a sense of right-expectancy about what is coming our way from out the future.  It is a victorious spirit characterized and tempered by patience.  We are able to meet and handle each moment’s circumstance as “a conqueror going forth to conquer.”   We understand that the Creative Process works in its own cycles and seasons to bring forth new flesh in our bodies through the ongoing cycles of regeneration, renewing them cell by cell every moment of every day.  We know that things of real meaning and value take time to work out in our lives and are worth waiting for.  We are patient with this process, assured that life knows what it is doing and what is best for us, and that brings to us no more or less than we are able and equipped to handle.  We are not interested in thwarting the natural design for our lives.

   In patience we have an attitude of radiant disregard toward events occurring both in our lives and in our worlds.  They simply do not move us to worry or anxiety, and it matters not to us how things and events work out, as our primary concern is to maintain a spirit of right expectancy with regard to the future.  We keep the heaven of our hearts undisturbed wherein the seeds of life gestate and come to fruition. We enjoy a bright outlook because we have taken care of first things first, and have remembered our First Love, the Beloved within our own hearts.

Love brings man and woman together in sacred union in order to send forth a unified current of blessing into a world made up of atoms, vortices of creative energy.  The world of form is all energy, moving vortices of energy, drawn together by Love to flesh out our bodies.  They are spiritualized and transmuted by the radiant current of love during sacred sex.  Our sex glands of reproduction are designed for this purpose. 

The Spiritualization of Atoms  

   There is a remarkable and significant similarity between the shape and function of the Pineal Body, with its mushroom-shaped head, with that of the male and female glands on the opposite end of the endocrine system.  They both serve as pointed vessels for focused release of the unified radiant current.  The sensation of intense pleasure during erection of both the penis and the clitoris, intensifying as orgasm begins to occur, is powerfully felt in the space behind the eyes where the anterior and posterior lobes of the Pituitary Gland, the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine embracing in the sixth plane of being. With the facilitation of the Hypothalamus and the Limbic System just above it in the brain, the pleasure center of the brain, the Pituitary receives the release of the golden light of love emanating from Spirit through the Pineal Body, embracing it on its way to the eyes and forehead and creating the sacred alchemy which allows the fire of love to “fall from heaven.”  The fire extends down and out through the sexual organs as well as outward through the eyes and permeating the entire body.   Every cell in the body temple is permeated by the radiant outpouring of love and therein rejuvenated in the ecstasy of sexual orgasm.

   With the outpouring of love’s emanations comes a refinement of pneumaplasm as it is drawn into the core of the ascending flame where it is refined even further.  This rarefied substance then rises to mingle with the substance of love contained within the heart.  The heart provides a safe place for the alchemy of transmutation to take place.  From this heart-container, the substance continues on its journey upward reaching into the core and bringing the experience of heaven into the body temple.  Upon touching the core of love in our heart of hearts, pneumaplasm acts as a connecting substance between earth and heaven through which the currents of love pour forth into the body-temple and through the body-temple into one’s world.  Thus are the atoms in the earthly plane of being spiritualized and lifted up into the realm of spirit.  

   The experience of this release through the eyes is especially unifying as the two look into each other’s eyes to receive one another as angels while their union makes itself evident and powerfully felt, as portrayed by the two cherubim poised over the mercy seat in the Ark of the Covenant gazing into each one another’s eyes.   Such moments of sacred sexual intimacy reveal the state of ecstatic union with the Beloved, from Whom a rich outpouring of love is known throughout the temple in waves of delightful pleasure. In his instructions on the “seven seals” Uranda describes what occurs at this level: 

         “Here thou seest the activity of the Gonad Glands (ovary or testis) in harmony with the Christ Center in the Sacral region of thy spine.  Here it is that the active Spiritualization process begins, and as the body substance responds to the action of this Seal it is prepared for the ASCENSION.”  (Uranda, Steps to Mastership) 

This Seal has been variously called the Cave of Darkness, the Serpent’s Seat, the Coil of Kundalini, the Manger of Birth (Bible), and by other names.  As this transmuted substance begins its ascension through the Seven Seals, it is spoken of, all through the Bible, as the River of Life; and the Tree of Life which extends from one side of the River of Life to the other side represents the Positive and Negative phases of the Seven Seals, under or through which the River of Life is flowing.  The Branches of the Trunk of the Tree extend from the Glands on the one side and from the Christ Centers in the Spine on the other side.  (STM, Lesson Fifty-four)

Knowing the Power of Love                     

   The power of love has little meaning unless it is allowed to move through us into the world so that we know it as intimately as we know ourselves.   There is not anyone who does not want to know the power of love.  We may say we want to experience the power of the Creator but are we in position to handle it?  Some wield so-called “power,” which is really force, in order to gain and maintain control over others and over the natural world.  But what is such force when compared to the power of love?  It is as nothing.  It is abusive, weak and self-serving. 

   True power is of a quality born out of stillness, out of the sea of glass which is clear as crystal.  It comes from above, down, inside and out into expression through all levels of being.  To the extent that the Spirit of Love is flowing through all Seven Seals, and the individuals involved are both internally still, having emerged from out of the lower three levels of being and into the fourth level, great power can move through them during this sacred service in the temple.

   As we make ourselves available to the creative power of love, we may even be called upon to come together in sacred union to provide a focused apex through which the Lord may have a channel into the world of mankind to bring blessing and transformation through the release of a unified current of love.  In such times awful power is known, a still power that radiates the Ray of Love but does not consume the sacred vessels in its release.   It is known to the guileless whose hearts are lifted up in the rapture of love response to the Beloved.  The purpose for such cycles of union between two angels may not be known to them until it is complete.  It may not be known to them ever.   But they always know that they were drawn together for a purpose that transcends them and their own shared field of co-creativity.  When they become aware of it, they are utterly humble and profoundly grateful to Love for finding them worthy and available for the work of restoration and re-creation.  They are also aware that their union is without end, even though they may part company and never see each other again on the physical plane.   For such union is not made on earth but is already a reality in the heaven that angels share with the LORD God.   It is simply made known on earth and experienced between human beings, and is a joy unspeakable.

Seven Glands for Seven Spirits, Part 7: The Gonads and the New Earth

Our journey through the seven-dimensional aspects of our Sacred Anatomy brings us now to a consideration of the first vibratory seal in this sacred temple, the Gonads (from the Greek gone, meaning seed). These delicate yet powerful pairs of glands are located in the pelvic region of the human anatomy.

The female aspects, the ovaries, are embedded in the folds of the broad ligament, a hammock-like support which suspends the womb within the pelvic girdle in front of the sacrum, the triangular bone connecting the two pelvic blades and forming thedorsal portion of the pelvis.

The male aspects, the testes, are suspended outside the pelvic region and contained in the sac of the scrotum. As their name implies, these glands produce the “seeds” that spawn human life. The ancients believed that life originated from this region of the physical anatomy, thus the origin of the word sacrum, which means sacred bone. They may not have been too far off the mark, as we shall see, for what does originate here in this region of our anatomy is truly of a sacred nature. But first let us look at the hormonal chemistry and physiology of these pro-generative glands.

Their Hormonal Activities

The hormones produced by the Gonads play pivotal roles throughout the body temple. Right from the start, their secretions determine the sexual characteristics of the embryo and then continue to influence the growth, maturation and development of the male and female forms.

For example, the first role testosterone plays, as mentioned earlier in our consideration of hormones as “crystal messengers of light,” is to split the brain into two lobes in both the female and the male embryo. The quantity of testosterone produced in the developing fetus will determine how much brain tissue remains connected between the two hemispheres and, therefore, whether it will be a male or a female form. The female brain has more corpus callosum tissue connecting the two lobes than the male brain has, giving women greater integration between right brain and left brain in their thinking processes. It is thought that this greater complexity tends to bring in more of the artistic and aesthetic “feelings” surrounding issues being considered, as compared to the male thinking processes which tend to be more logical, cold and calculating.

As we considered earlier also, estrogen and progesterone, the two primary ovarian hormones, give the female form its graceful curves and softness, as well as its emotional climate and the expression of feminine energies. These two hormones work synergistically to provide for a controlled growth of new tissue wherever it is needed, as in the development of the endometrial lining of the uterus in preparation for the fertilized ovum, and in the process of bone replacement where both play an essential role together in breaking out old, brittle bone (progesterone’s role) and replacing it with new bone tissue (estrogen’s role). The dominant presence of estrogen without the controlling factors progesterone offers into the process of new growth will result in an unbridled proliferation of neoplasm in the developing fetus, as well as elsewhere in the body temple where such proliferation may develop into cancerous tumors.

When the young adolescent reaches puberty, the hypothalamus initiates hormonal changes in both the female and the male by secreting a chemical called gonadotropin-releasing hormone, or GnRH. Elevations in GnRh sends a signal to the pituitary gland of the young girl to release two hormones called follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), which initiates adult ovarian function. The girl becomes a childbearing woman.

Testosterone, the male partner to estrogen, gives the male form its strong, muscular characteristics and provides for the expression of the masculine achieving energy. These hormones are produced in the body under the initiative and direction of the Pituitary Gland, where, as we have seen, the Spirit of the Womb abides and oversees the Creative Process. Both male and female hormones are to be found in men and women alike, with one more dominant than the other in each sex respectively, providing for the expression of the masculine and the feminine currents of energy through Man. These highly charged energies work together as partners in co-creation with the Spirit of the New Earth.

Sacred Vessels

Closely associated with the Gonads are the organs of reproduction themselves: the uterus which provides a womb for the conception, gestation and development of the human embryo; the fallopian tubes that convey an ovum into the uterus each and every month; and the erectile structure of the glans clitoridis (clitoris) which activates the contractions during sexual orgasm. In the male the glans penis (penis), situated below and around the rim of head of the penis, serve this purpose, triggering climatic waves that convey sperm from the testicles through the seminal vesicle—a highly convoluted duct called the “vas deferens”—and into the ejaculatory duct of the penis, and the prostate gland which secretes, as well as propels, an alkaline fluid containing the sperm through the penis and into the vagina during intercourse, where some of the sperm find their way through the cervix, the birthing portal of the womb, and into the uterus with intent to fertilize the ovum. These organ/glands define at the physical level of creation the giving and receiving aspects of the masculine and the feminine energies.

The vessels of our sexual organs are especially sacred in that they connect the seven endocrine glands of the female temple with those of the male during the temple service of sexual intercourse. They may be seen, perhaps, as the right and left hand of the Creator, joined together in holy union—the positively-charged masculine with the negatively-charged feminine energies— for the purpose of releasing a unified current of love into the world. Ultimately, as we shall explore, they are instrumental in generating the alchemy by which atomic substance is transmuted into the spiritualized substance of pneumaplasm, the silvery medium by which ecstatic union with the Divine is known in the ultimate sacramental ritual of sacred sex. All of these glands and organs are the domain of the Spirit of the New Earth.

Musical Shaping of Sacred Space

This first-level center for the differentiation of the awesome power of love emits a vibration which corresponds with the longest of the seven dominant wavelengths in the light spectrum, Red, correlating with the musical pitch of  A 440 , which re-sounds the vibratory pitch of invisible ultra-violet light at the top of the spectrum. This lower vibration moves down to a G Natural red at the root Chakra, which represents the grounding our bodies provide for us between the current of the Creative Process and the natural world of the Good Earth, which is a further extension of the continuum spectrum of energy as it manifests in shades of red and brown earth tones, and which provides the materials for the construction of the body temple.

The invisible, inaudible music of the spheres begins to be made visible in singing flesh. Perhaps there is a significant correlation, as we considered earlier, with the intonation of the pitch of A 440 by the Concert Master in tuning the orchestra just before the conductor’s baton comes down to start the music. The symphony of each life expression begins with the pitch of A 440 before it is differentiated into the unique individual expression of each one’s “key signature.”  We each play our particular notes in the grand symphony of human life on Earth. Everything we see external to ourselves is but a reflection and echo of the designs found throughout the anatomy and physiology of the human temple.

For example, one can “hear” a pre-sounding of the vibratory pitches in the various parts of the anatomy. I feel it in the area around my heart while sharing attunement with someone. This is how I know what pitch to tone when I wish to work with sound during a healing session. It is really quite simple and very accurate, as I have discovered, offering a profound influence of sound vibration to facilitate the healing process. The audible music that we compose and play or sing is but a reflection of the inaudible “music” that is always sounding and resounding in sacred tones throughout our bodies. It is what we are. We are music and light flowing like water through cool air and congealing like gelatin in an icy mold. It is all one continuous river of sacred energy vibrating at different levels of frequency making itself visible here and there as it flows through the lattice work of force fields shaping sacred space along lines of force as functional design is given to living flesh.

While focusing the attunement current in the region of the Gonads, I invariably have a deep sense of the sacred nature of this terrain. Here is the very seat of holiness in our sacred anatomy, an altar of worship upon which is sacrificed and sanctified the very finest molecules from the atomic world so that they might make their ascent into the temple of light. One may be compelled, as I am, to sound a sacred “om” with deep, resonant tones. Tender essences surely rise from these holy vessels as pneumaplasmic incense before the throne of God in his living temple.

Spirit of the New Earth

The Spirit of the New Earth operates these sexual and reproductive organs and glands of the Gonads.  The two female ovaries and two male testes serve as the pro-generators of eggs and sperm respectively that, when united in the womb, initiate the miraculous process of gestation and development of the embryonic form of a human being.  A new earth is created and born into the world in nine months and an angel from out of the realms of light in heaven incarnates to begin its journey here on planet Earth.

Iodine Supplementation

I interrupt this series of posts on the spiritual and vibrational essences of the seven endocrine glands to bring to my readers this important information about iodine, especially in light of the fallout alarm on the West Coast of the American continent due to the nuclear catastrophe in Japan.

PROTEIN-BOUND IODINE

Iodine is an important trace mineral, of which there are some 74 in the human body, ranging from Aluminum to Zinc.  If you live on the West Coast, or Hawaii and Canada, you’re probably concerned with protecting your thyroid gland against atomic radiation fallout from Japan’s nuclear catastrophe.  Iodine provides that protection, but take care in your selection of iodine supplements.  Iodine is best taken as a protein–bound trace mineral, otherwise it can be toxic. 

Standard Process Labs, founded by Dr. Royal Lee over a hundred years ago, holds the patent on the process that combines iodine with protein from the sea conch, an excellent source of protein and sea minerals.  John Courtney of Standard Process, who is now deceased but left a legacy of nutritional research papers behind, explains it this way:

 Iodine can be toxic due to its tendency to combine with protein. If you get a cut and you put iodine on it, the iodine destroys the bacteria because bacteria are a protein. A lot of doctors give iodine orally, an iodine and water solution. When you put this solution into your mouth, the iodine combines with the protein in your mouth and could cause irritation, not just in your mouth, but in the stomach, or wherever it goes. So that isn’t the best way to take iodine. It should be mixed with protein first, then it’s not toxic to your system. But the iodine is still available to your thyroid for making thyroxine. We have a patent on this process of mixing iodine with protein. We just refer to our products as “protein-bound iodine.” Blood chemistry tests give an iodine figure and a protein-bound iodine figure, “PBI.” The PBI figure is a measure of thyroid activity. If your thyroid isn’t working, iodine and protein are not combined efficiently in your system. So your protein-bound iodine will be low and your regular iodine high, indicting a sluggish thyroid. IODOMERE is a protein-bound iodine, which also contains sea minerals.

Another iodine product by SP is PROLAMINE IODINE, which contains a much heavier concentration of iodine than is found in IODOMERE. One tablet contains three milligrams of iodine, or 2000% of the adult minimum daily requirement.  Basically, PROLAMINE IODINE is used to restore iodine levels to normal, while IODOMERE is used to maintain iodine at proper levels. Hot flashes for menopausal women are one of the most popular uses of this product. 

IODINE LOADING

Under the guidance of a healthcare practitioner, a person who is quite deficient in iodine can go through a process called “iodine loading,” which entails taking an incrementally increased dose of PROLAMINE IODINE daily (one tablet added each day) until one develops an occipital headache and exceptionally clear sinuses.  At that point, you reduce the dosage by one tablet and take that dose for a week. Then come down off the loading process one tablet less each day until you’re down to one.  Continue with one tablet per day for ninety days.  Then one can start taking one IODOMERE tablet with each meal for maintenance.

Another popular product by Standard Process Labs is TRACE MINERALS B12.  Here you have all the trace minerals in a single supplement.  One tablet daily is the maintenance dose.  In the case of hair falling out, a daily dose of 6 (2 with each meal) daily for 90 days will solve the problem nicely.*

Enzyme systems throughout the body depend on trace minerals for activation. Modern agricultural practices have seriously depleted these trace minerals from the soil. Foods are increasingly deficient in trace minerals. 

TRACE MINERALS B12 contains a lot of manganese, a ligament strengthener, very useful in the repair of herniated discs. It also contains zinc, copper, iodine, and vitamin B12 (organically combined cobalt) — all trace minerals. Manganese is an enzyme activator, which makes this product beneficial for the person with chronic low resistance to infection, colds, flu, etc.  One other use for TRACE MINERALS B12 is for overall endocrine support. The trace minerals it contains are all required by the endocrine glands for proper function: iodine for the thyroid, manganese for the pituitary, copper for the adrenals, zinc for the gonads and pancreas, and vitamin B12 for the spleen and red blood cells. The B12 and other trace minerals are also important in supporting the integrity of the blood, so the product is beneficial in cases of anemia.  Overall, this is a very beneficial supplement to take on a daily basis.

THE ADRENAL GLANDS

“Two adrenal glands, more or less pyramid in shape, are located one above each kidney. Their primary hormones are adrenaline and its cohort, noradrenaline (produced in the adrenal medulla, the inner part), and corticosteroids or cortisone (produced in the adrenal cortex, the outer part). These are secreted upon demand and especially when the body is exposed to stress and strain. 
Adrenal hormones are essential for the function, strength and integrity of all the cells in the body. The adrenal glands are supported by B Vitamins, especially Niacin and B6, along with the full spectrum of amino acids, such as those found in nuts and other protein-rich foods. The vibratory frequency I hear pre-sounding in my inner musical ear in the adrenal glands resonates with Orange-red and the musical pitch of A sharp.” 

ONE SPIRIT

“From this sacred center, the Spirit of the Single Eye brings tranquility and sharp focus to the lens of the mind for concentration and for shining forth the Light of Truth. This spirit endows the mind with the capacity of logic and reason, as well as common sense. This works both ways, for as the mind is single in purpose and intent, power is released by this spirit through the adrenal glands for effective, creative action. The Creative Command, which always starts with “Let,” is thus released and articulated by the angel into the substance of love that fills this sacred seal.” (Both excerpts are from Sacred Anatomy)

Tranquility and Focus are the gifts of the Spirit of the Single Eye. Here is the sixth verse of my poem The Seven Spirits of God:

I am the Spirit of the Single Eye
I bring power to my body, focus to my mind,
precision to my movement, tranquility to my world

THE EYE, THE LIGHT OF THE BODY

There is a passage in the Gospels that speaks to the function of the adrenal glands and the Spirit of the Single Eye.

The light of the body is the eye. When, therefore, thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also if full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.  (Luke 11:34-36)

Then there’s this expansion on the theme in the Gospel of James:

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8)

Not much more can be added to these statements.  They pretty much speak for themselves.  Jesus was a physician of the soul. He is called the “Great Physician.”  Luke is also thought to have been a physician. The health of the body is dependent upon the health of the soul.  The soul of a man is invisible.  It is the spiritual, or vibrational, aspect of the human being that is connected directly to the endocrine system by way of light frequencies encoded with messages from spirit. 

The two adrenal glands are designed to be strictly under the direct control of the Spirit of the Single Eye.  The Single Eye radiates from out of the pineal gland in the center of the brain when the adrenal glands are engaged by the Spirit of the Single Eye.  Engaged by any other spirit these glands are not available to the Spirit of the Single Eye and will consequently fail in their normal function, which is to provide focus for clear and right thinking and power for precise action.  Such focus and power is born out of a tranquil mind, and tranquility is born out of patience.  We will consider patience in part 7 when we contemplate the Spirit of the New Earth and the gonadal glands. 

The one standing in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks is described as having eyes that were “as a flame of fire.” Two eyes, one flame.  This is true for us when our eye is single.  We have power to focus our minds to accomplish the task at hand.  That focus is none other than Love.  When we love what we are doing and our thoughts spring out of a mind that is bent on doing what is right, we have limitless power available to us by reason of our adrenal glands.

St. Thomas recorded Jesus’ words in a little different way:

Therefore I say that if one is unified one will be filled with light; but if one is divided one will be filled with darkness. —Jesus, from The Gospel of Thomas

SERVE ONE MASTER

One can be divided by the nature of the purpose one serves. If that purpose is not true to one’s sense of honesty and integrity, true to one’s spiritual essence and purpose for living and serving in this world, then one is divided.  The Master Jesus said something about this state: 

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.  (Matt 6:24)

Mammon relates to the deification of wealth and the worship of material riches set aside, as in a depository or investment, for security.  This pretty well describes the current state of affairs in our world.  I find there is much darkness present in human thinking regarding health and disease.  So little understanding of how the human body functions as a whole entity coordinated by the coherent light of life.  And I believe that this darkness of ignorance stems from the human scientific mind attempting to play God, only it doesn’t serve God. It serves mammon. It serves itself, thinking that by understanding the state of disease, which is darkness, it will be able to produce a state of health in human beings—and health is wealth, or so we say.  But we will never produce health by studying and understanding disease.   It is only by understanding health, which is light, that man will come to experience health.  Let the mind be filled with light and not darkness—the light of understanding rather than the darkness of ignorance. Light will then fill the human mind, and the whole body, when our eye is single—and that will happen when we serve God alone.  One master. 

Let your mind be single in purpose and light will fill your whole body.  Power and strength, then, will be made available to you in your service to God and your neighbor.  A worthy resolution for the New Year.

“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” (Malachi 3:10)       __________________________________________________________

This quote from Malachi above is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. I don’t know why. It just resonates inside. In a certain way it says that when you give your all into what you do, you will realize the greatest blessing in return, which is what I want this post to be about: being the greatest possible blessing to one’s world.

 We’ve been talking about the pancreas  and we’ve seen how this organ-gland provides a twofold blessing to the body’s digestive and energy systems.  In this post I would like to spend some additional time with the spiritual, or vibrational, aspect of the pancreas as a sacred center for the indwelling of the Spirit of Blessing. Here is the fifth verse of my poem “The Seven Spirits of God”

I am the Spirit of Blessing

I uplift the elements of my world through my Creative Process

So they might become part of my body

I provide realization for my world

THE CAPACITY TO KNOW AND EXPRESS SPIRIT

We are not just incarnate in these physical bodies.  They provide us with specific vibrational pathways for the expression of our creative juices and the delivery of our gifts of spirit.

The sacred endocrine center of the pancreas provides us with the capacity for spiritual expression, an experience of Third Plane Being. From this plane, our hearts, empowered by our feeling realm, rise to give us the capacity to discern and express spiritual essences, such as joy, thankfulness, praise, forgiveness and enthusiasm. Here spiritual things are spiritually discerned. This includes the awareness of the presence of spirit, specifically one’s own presence as a spirit being—an angel, in other words. The spiritual substance generated at this sacred site is fine enough to rise up and begin providing a medium for the transmission of the radiant emanations of spirit from Fourth Plane Being, where the One I Am stands in the midst of the “Seven Golden Candlesticks” described by John in the Book of Revelation:

 And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars; and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and His countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. (Rev. 1: 12-16)

In Sacred Anatomy I go into profound detail correlating this description of the One standing in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks with the seven endocrine glands and the “seven spirits before the throne of God,” which John also saw in his ecstatic vision.  Reading this passage sowed the seed of inspiration that led to my writing this meditative journey through the physical body’s sacred anatomy. 

A SPIRIT OF BLESSING

The pancreas provides us with a window through which we may pour out a spirit of blessing into our worlds by making possible the realization of creative ideas and intentions.  It’s a matter of putting our whole heart and desire into our dreams or intentions with deep feeling and assurance—not that our dreams will be realized but that the are already realized. John describes these spirits as “angels” and the seven seals as “churches,” meaning they are sacred and therefore to be used by the angel for creative purposes.  The spirit of this hormonal center empowers the realizations of creative ideas, just as its enzymes and hormones empower the release of energy from the foods we consume.  The pancreas is a power center very intimately associated with the solar plexus.

These seven glands are seals by virtue of the awful power they have the potential of releasing when opened.  Their chemistry, when released, can bring about blessing or cursing, depending on the quality and nature of the spirit we express through them. The spirit of cursing is the shadow side of the spirit of blessing.  If maintained for a length of time, it has the potential of releasing outbursts of destructive energy, such as anger, into our field of creation, as well as the “plague” of diabetes into our body temple.  Chronic complaint and anger are harsh vibrations that destroy the delicate cells of the pancreas that produce insulin for blood sugar management.  On the other hand, as  we maintain an attitude of gratitude and joy, the Spirit of Blessing can deliver its gift of uplifting energy and health. 

The realization of spiritual seeds sown in love is the gift of the angel of this church.  With realization comes awareness that I am a creator being, an angel incarnate, one with the One standing in the midst. I am the blessing being poured out through my window of heaven into the world. Being still and lifting my heart and mind heavenward, I may come to know that I am an aspect of the One Great Spirit of God, which has need of nothing. Therefore, all things necessary for my presence and service on Earth are provided by my Father in heaven whose unconditional and irresistible love draws into my temple the substance of the Great Mother of Creation to provide “meat in mine house”—flesh and form for all that I shall ever need to live a creative and fruitful life. All that is needed is already present with me now and will manifest as needed . . . in abundance. 

BALANCING SACRED ENERGY

When I contemplate the form and function of the body-temple and all its intricate and interacting parts, knowing that here before me and with me is a manifestation of a heavenly design which is perfect, of the very principles and laws that govern all of Creation, I begin to see, with the eyes of my heart, replicating patterns of both structure and function within and all around me in the natural world.

A beautiful example of this type of contemplative visioning can be known studying the manner in which energy is held in a state of balance by various mechanisms of checks and balances for efficient and effective creativity. In my last post we considered the balancing of energy harvested from the foods we take into our bodies, a function of hormones secreted by the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas.  We saw how there are at least three types of these islet cells. Beta cells, the most common type, produce insulin to regulate blood glucose. Alpha cells produce an opposing hormone, glucagon, which releases glucose from the liver and fatty acids from fat tissue; these favor insulin-release and inhibit glucagon secretion. Delta cells produce somatostatin, which inhibits insulin and glucagon secretion. Then there are small numbers of F cells which  secrete a pancreatic polypeptide, which slows down nutrient absorption.  So we can see there are a number of chemicals and hormones produced in the pancreas that check and balance one another.

MASCULINE AND FEMININE ENERGIES

All energies, of course, originate in the One Source and are initially divided into the duality of the masculine and feminine, possessing positive and negative charges. They all start out as one radiant current of love.  They then divide into two sacred forces that are designed to work together creatively so long as they are balanced.

The balancing of sacred energy, both in the individual body and in the collective body of mankind, is accomplished by bringing the masculine and feminine energies into a place of accord where they work together in a spirit of love and cooperation. The feminine energy of the heart realm brings a nurturing sweetness into the mix, along with intuitive insight and deep feeling and passion for empowering the creative process. The masculine energy is more mental and brings such elements as logic and reason, along with mental calmness for clear and positive thought and action.

Imbalance occurs when either one of them becomes overly dominant and controlling. For example, should the masculine seek to dominate and control the feminine, she is shut down and withdraws her sweetness and empowerment.  Or should the feminine energy be in reactive turmoil over external events, her empowering energies are dissipated outward, leaving nothing with which the masculine energy can blend, or partner and dance, in co-creative ventures. The energy level quickly drops in a relationship. It drops in the individual, as well, and in the collective body of mankind, by reason of the same dynamics at work between the masculine and the feminine energies.  

This happens when we suppress our feelings and allow our goal-driven minds to control our expression and action, never minding important feedback our gut feelings may be giving us.  It happens when our feelings are upset and cloud our thinking and vision. It happens when the achieving spirit of competition allows no room for the heart to explore its intuitive sensing that arises from simply being present and available to the impulse of spirit and pure spontaneity.  It happens when the feminine uses her seductive wiles to lure the masculine away from his mission and purpose, but only if he can be so seduced. It happens in patriarchal systems of above-down government based in fear that substitute governance by love from within in a more natural system of partnership and co-creation.   

As these two sacred energies are brought together in a state of balance and harmony, a beautiful song of blessing is poured out of heaven into the world.
