Expression Allows Release

Tony picHere it is the first of March and it’s already time to publish a new post in my blogs. I haven’t even thought of what I might write about. Actually, my reservoir is rather empty. After sharing so much through my Health Light Newsletter over yea these past twenty-five years—a printed issue for twenty years—I simply don’t know what more I have to say—about health, that is. I am truly empty. Besides, others have taken up the torch and are shining light on what has come to be known as “whole health.” Just yesterday PBS had three programs on the subject, two of which featured Deepak Chopra with his “eat the rainbow” theme, and Wayne Dyer with his “I can see clearly now” theme. A third program, which I only watched for a few minutes, featured a woman whose topic was “Whole Health.” What I saw of it was very good, just what many of us in the alternative health field have been teaching since the middle of the last century.

I was intrigued by her visual aid, which was a pyramid made of large smooth rocks with words printed on them that told of several things that affect our lives. The top rock was “Physical Health.”  Below this capstone were other things like nutrition, relationships, job, career, exercise, etc. . . . and in there somewhere near the obscure middle of the stack was the word “Spirituality.”  And it struck me how much we focus on our physical bodies and our physical health. After working in this field for fifty years, I’ve become rather bored by the subject.

So, as I sit down to write this post with an empty reservoir of topics, I  pause to reflect on a simple truth and principle that was stated for me many  years ago by my mentor, Dr. William Bahan: “Expression allows release.”

We give so much consideration to what we put into our bodies. Through our mouths we strive to put healthy foods and beverages into our stomachs and try not to put things that are bad for us. Into our minds we strive to put knowledge and wisdom from books, seminars and workshops, and try to have positive thoughts and feelings and avoid negative ones. Into our hearts we seek to put God, grace and virtue through religion, meditation, spiritual retreats and pilgrimages to holy lands and sacred sites. Not that these disciplines and practices are not valuable and necessary. But our health care and lifestyle practices appear to be all about putting things into ourselves to make us healthier and happier—or taking things out that are bad, or that have gone bad. We exercise our bodies with jogging, walking, gym equipment and Yoga. We steam them, rub them with oils, sauna and sunbathe them and put them on diets to lose weight. When all this fails to achieve promised and desired results, we turn to drugs for relief from pain and suffering and prayer for miracles when our situation seems hopeless.

If you were fortunate and aware enough to know about finding and correcting the cause of your ill health, you found your way to a chiropractor who adjusted your spine to “…release the imprisoned impulse, the tiny rivulet of force, that emanates from the mind and flows over the nerves to the cells, and stirs them into life….”  The word “emanates” means coming from within, not poured in from outside. Chiropractic was the first drug-less healing profession to offer an alternative and about-face approach to health and dis-ease here in the West. Founder and developer respectively Drs. Daniel and BJ Palmer proclaimed loudly their “Law of Life” which stated that life and health in human beings comes from “ABOVE, DOWN, INSIDE, OUT.”

It was this philosophy of thinking deductively rather than inductively that called me to chiropractic as my life’s work. They called it “The Big Idea,” which gradually faded away in the minds and hearts of many chiropractors as they compromised their profession’s principles in order to accommodate the public’s perception of chiropractic care — and more so the insurance industry’s reluctant and meager willingness to pay for limited chiropractic care for the relief of backaches and neck injuries and a few other related conditions that were medically approved. Chiropractic in by far the majority of its doctors’ clinics became just another palliative application to the physical body for the relief of pain. Its philosophy by and large sadly went by the wayside. I published my attempt to revive that philosophy back in 2000 in our professional magazine Today’s Chiropractic — reprinted in 2005 as a booklet Rediscovering the Soul of Chiropractic — to which I received a precious hand full of letters of response from principled colleagues both here and abroad. (Available from Health Light Publishing in St. Augustine, Florida: healthlightbooks.com)

We’ve become resource poor. Just look at all the books on health. Look at all the prescription medications in the Physicians Desk Reference and all the vitamin products on the market. We’re left with no excuses for not being healthy and happy.  And yet, we’re still unhealthy and unhappy and addicted to putting stuff into ourselves to change our experience of our selves.

To paraphrase a Biblical phrase, it’s not what we put into our mouths that makes us health and happy, but what comes out of our mouths. Health is within us. We already have a whole and healthy spiritual body standing in the wings behind our physical body waiting to be enjoyed in the flesh. It’s what gives our very flesh life and function! We cannot live without it. It’s perfect! It’s beautiful! It’s just the right shape and size, too! It cannot be sick! It cannot even die! What we can live without is our physical body. Think about it!

Now, think about this. If you can find a way to put your spiritual body into your physical body completely, your physical body with its mind and emotions would be perfectly healthy and happy. Oh, it will still die, but it will die healthy and happy! YOU, however, will carry on living in your spiritual body. Not on this beautiful earth, of course, but in the incredibly beautiful and wonderful realms of Light in Heaven. (I don’t believe there’s a hell, except for what we’ve made of life here on earth.)

But, of course, we can’t just put our spiritual body into our physical body like we download programs into our computers. We can, however, use our physical body with its mind and heart to express our spiritual body with all of its vibrant life, eternal truth, and its endless and unconditional love. Expression allow release.

A little poem comes to mind that Dr. Bill Bahan often used in his symposiums:

How To Be Happy

Are you almost disgusted with life, little man?
I’ll tell you a wonderful trick
That will bring you contentment, if anything can:
Do something for somebody, quick!

Are you awfully tired with play, little girl?
Wearied, discouraged, and sick?
I’ll tell you the loveliest game in the world:
Do something for somebody quick!

Though it rains like the rain of the flood, little man,
And the clouds are forbidding and thick,
You can make the sun shine in your soul, little man:
Do something for somebody, quick!

Though the stars are like brass overhead, little girl,
And the walks like a well-heated brick,
And our earthly affairs in a terrible whirl,
Do something for somebody, quick! (George Varghese)

Do you feel all bottled up inside? Then let your Self out of prison! Expression allows release. Though we are constantly reminded by just about every health author, you are not what you eat. You are what you express in your moments of living. That’s what you know, what you experience. We know and experience that which we express in thought, word and deed in and through our hearts, our minds and our physical bodies. You want to be happy? Express joy. You want to know love? Express love. You want to know truth? Express truth. You want to know life? Express life. You want to have peace? Be peaceful. This is what will give your body whole health. It’s that simple. Everything else will follow.

Spirituality rightly belongs at the top of the pyramid. Your spirit, motive and attitude will set the direction of your actions and guide your choices in life. When in doubt, start with thankfulness. When you’re anxious, try patience. When worried and confused, try stilling your mind with the assurance that all is well. Realization of what we need to do in any moment comes through a tranquil mind from within. Be still and know. Like I said, we’ve been given all the resources we need to lead a healthy and happy life. All we need is to be fully present as a conscious being in each moment. My spiritual mentor put it very succinctly in a poem.

Any Moment

Any moment of hating, Any moment of lying, Any moment of resentment, Is a moment of dying.

Any moment of loving, Any moment of giving, Any moment of thankfulness, Is a moment of living.

All our moments add together Like the digits in a sum, And the answer tells us plainly Whether life or death shall come.    —Martin Cicil

Dr. James Sigafoose says it all in this clip:

And now my reservoir is full again. Expression has allowed the release of this post. I wish for you a beautiful day. Here’s to your health and happiness!

Finding Balance in a “Sexed Universe”

Tony Pics for SA Book We’ve been considering the spiritual essences within and behind the sacred anatomy of our endocrine system.  I would like to expand this consideration to encompass the larger context of life in which these delicate glands in our bodies play dynamic roles in bringing about homeostasis.

Homeostasis in health is the state of balance between a man/woman and his/her environment.  Health is a state of balance.  Dis-ease is a state of imbalance.

I’ve been reading some of Walter Russell’s books — and blogging on them in my HealingTones.org blog. I’m presently half way through his 1947 work The Secret of Light — a very mentally stimulating book — but  also spiritually enlightening. The author truly did tap the secrets of the Universe.  He brings God the Creator right down into Creation where one can see God, not aloof from his creation but quite intimately involved in it and eternally creating it . . . through us.

BALANCE = REST

The idea that spawned this post came in something Russell said about balance.  All things in the universe, he writes, seek balance.  The implication in this statement is that all things are naturally in a state of unbalance.  Balance, Russell writes, is a state of rest.  In what he calls a “two-way electrical universe,” opposites, by nature, oppose one another while seeking a state of rest by nullifying one another.

In electricity, for example, a positive current seeks negative grounding, where it comes to rest in a state of balance. The same dynamic plays out in an electrical storm.  Clouds build up a positive charge which they discharge in a bolt of lightning toward the negative, receptive  ground.  The result is light, which is neither positive or negative.  These polarities are nullified by their union.  Light is the balanced state where opposites come to rest and lose their individual charge and identity.

Opposites can never unite unless they return to their original state of balance and rest, where they are no longer what they were. They become each other.  Hot becomes cold by condensing and cold becomes hot by expanding.  Night becomes day and day becomes night.  Life becomes death in order to be reborn as life. Heaven becomes earth and earth returns to heaven.  Water becomes vapor and vapor returns to water. The invisible becomes visible only to return to being invisible.  The only reality that doesn’t change is God.  God is eternal Balance.

Human beings seek health when they are sick.  We become sick when we get out of balance with Universal Law.  For example, by divine design we carry a positive spiritual charge in relation to our environment.  Our worlds are negative, or responsive, toward us, their creators. We lose that dynamic creator-creation relationship the moment we become negative, or responsive, toward them, in effect making our worlds, rather than God, our positive point of orientation and looking to receive our cues for directions in life from circumstances rather than from within. In other words, we reverse our polarity by turning our face of response outward.  In that state, we become reactive rather than proactive.

This sets up an unnatural dynamic between us and our worlds. We really can’t make the material world positive in its charge.  By nature it is negative toward the Positive One who made it. We can only reverse our own polarity, in effect turning our backs on God.  In so doing, we lose our radiance — and eventually our health.  Our worlds do not respond to us lacking our positive dominion and stewardship.  Life becomes a struggle of extracting sustenance from our worlds by the sweat of our brows.  (Seems I’ve read that somewhere in Genesis.) This unbalance is finally resolved in death.  Death is where our bodies finally find the rest they sought throughout their existence.  “Rest in peace,” we say — but only for a little while until the atoms that make up our bodies are resurrected back into another life form, perhaps human.

That creator-creation dynamic is restored the moment we restore our natural polarity by turning our face of response back to God and extending a radiant dominion of positive energy toward our environment. That quality of dominion is magnetic and irresistible.  It’s Love.  Atoms and molecules will come together in healthy patterns of design and balanced bodily function very quickly around such a quality of spirit in expression through us.  Our endocrine system will produce sufficient and appropriate hormones that will gladly carry those positive energies and messages in a stream of balanced chemistry to all the cells in the body.  Vitality and harmony will prevail once again — as it was when we were innocent children — in our house of being.

EXTENDING LOVE’S DOMINION

By virtue of the same dynamic, life in our day-to-day relationships and activities is a state of opposites and therefore of unbalance.  Male and female, for example, are opposite energies.  They oppose one another.  That’s their natural state of creative stress. They seek union in order to procreate, and in doing so they become one another, negate one another, lose themselves in one another.  Men no longer remain male and women no longer female.  They become Love, if only for a few minutes, creating a new life form. If only they would retain that shared identity in Love after their sexual union and extend loving dominion in their daily affairs, the world would quickly be transformed. Then, male energy could continue to be itself and female energy itself in an ongoing, natural relationship of opposites balancing one another rather than competing with one another for power and control.

Ideally and ultimately the balancing of these two energies needs to take place within the individual. It occurs easily as the mind is consumed in knowing Truth and how things work with Life,  and the heart is content in its love affair with Love and ceases looking for love elsewhere. It occurs instantly when I remember who I AM and honor my lordship over my creation.

In politics, liberals oppose conservatives. That’s by constitutional, as well as natural, design.  Standing alone, they are each in a state of unbalance. Standing together in opposition to one another, they create a dynamic state of what could and should be creative stress.  It has historical rather created a seemingly insurmountable impasse.

A state of unbalance finds balance only by returning to a state of rest.  Agreement — even agreeing to disagree — creates a state of rest.

I find it interesting that in this political battle over gun control, the conservative party wants liberation from gun-control while the liberal party wants conservation and tightening of gun-control — and the twain shall never meet. That is, unless they come to love and want the same thing, hopefully the truth, whatever that is in this situation. The people, whom they represent, are divided on that score, a division we see reflected in Congress. Until we the people come to a resolution on the basis of what the right thing to do is, the two parties will remain unbalanced in their individual views and in their polarized charge around those views, and the issue will remain unresolved. Without agreement, there can be no balance, and the painfully divisive state of unrest in our nation will persist, all stemming from a prevailing fear that the government is trying to take away our constitutional right to bear arms, a “right” that is at odds with Universal Law.

The solution to the tragedies produced by violence is not to be found and legislated by Congress.  It will come about naturally when we stop making allowances for it in our consciousness. Data shows you are four times more likely to die by a bullet — either by your hand or by that of your spouse or other family member — if you make allowance for a gun in your home as a means of self-defense. It’s the old proverb, “Live by the sword and die by the sword.”

Opposites can unite only if they return to their original state of balance and rest.  Love is our origin. Only in Love can we find our place of balance and rest. When our love is for truth, the result of our actions will be peace — and life will prevail.

A “SEXED ELECTRIC UNIVERSE”

That is how Walter Russell describes the world in which we live.  Electricity is created by divided wave action arising out of God’s Mind conveying his Idea of Creation.  One wave carries a positive charge and the other wave carries a negative charge.  One compresses while the other expands. One is masculine and the other feminine. Their passion to unite and discharge  depends upon the intensity and build up of their electrical charge. The farther away from a state of balance through union they are, the more they “sex” one another and the more irresistible is their desire for union, which can be rather violent if one is super-charged and not discharging energy in other creative ways — or is mentally or emotionally compromised.  As Russell describes it . . .

Sex is the division of a balanced equilibrium condition into two equally unbalanced conditions which negate each other periodically for the purpose of repeating the two unbalanced conditions.

Sex is the creative principle. It is the dual desire force in Mind (God) for expressing its One Idea (for Creation). Without a division of the one unconditioned Light into two seemingly conditioned lights (male-female, positive-negative, father-mother), Creation could not be.

Sex is not a thing, it is a condition of a thing.  An electrically balanced condition of anything is sexless, whether it be a man, woman, electric battery, or the atmosphere. A sexed condition is an unbalanced condition.

Using the examples of a short-circuited battery losing its charge and becoming “dead,” and that of the calm after an electrical storm that has discharged the clouds and the atmosphere, Russell makes his case for how the desire for balance is satisfied in nature, and when balance is attained at rest, motion is no longer possible.

The sexed condition of unbalance in man is exactly the same in all phenomena in Nature. An unbalanced sex condition in man demands balancing in the same way, and its violence depends upon its electrical measure of unbalance. When that desire is satisfied and balance is restored, man is as sexless as the dead storage battery and for the same reason.

He offers this as a re-conditioning:

Man is recharged into a sexed condition by his heartbeat, by the food he eats and by his inbreathing-outbreathing. These are the generators which recharge the “dead storage batteries” of all the universe into sexed conditioned “live batteries.”

Electricity — which Russell sees as the wave activity of God’s knowing and thinking Mind — is what conditions all “sexless matter into its sexed condition, by dividing a pressureless condition into two opposite pressures which desire release from their opposition.”  He then offers this astute observation and perspective:

All of the work of the universe is performed as a result of that desire in unbalanced matter to seek rest in a balanced condition.

This is a sexed electric universe in every effect of motion, whether it be in the heart of a giant sun or in the petal of a meadow violet.

Every action of motion in the universe is a result of sex desire for motion from a state of rest, or for rest from a state of motion.

One can see the function of emotions in this light as a means of discharging energy charge around issues of deep interest. Russell brings it all back to God in this final paragraph:

These two sex desires of electric action and reaction are the result of the two desires of the Father to manifest His One Light through the extended father-mother lights which interweave His idea of Creation into the multiple forms of that idea and void them periodically for the purpose of repeating them.

Finally, he sheds light on the eternal birth-death-rebirth cycle from seed to form back to seed.

The desire for two-way motion in equal action and reaction is reflected in the dual electric desire to give for regiving, and to unfold for refolding.

What a beautiful perspective.  This is why I love reading Walter Russell. He has left us a priceless legacy of understanding with regard to the secrets of the universe.

Thanks for reading my post.  I love to hear from my readers and share your thoughts.  I look forward to what’s next in this blog.  Sometimes I don’t know until a few days before they are due.  Until then, here’s to your health and wellness!

Seven Glands for Seven Spirits—Part 6: Adrenals and the Single Eye

 Adrenal Glands atop the kidneys

Adrenal Glands atop the kidneys

THE ADRENAL GLANDS

“Two adrenal glands, more or less pyramid in shape, are located one above each kidney. Their primary hormones are adrenaline and its cohort, noradrenaline (produced in the adrenal medulla, the inner part), and corticosteroids or cortisone (produced in the adrenal cortex, the outer part). These are secreted upon demand and especially when the body is exposed to stress and strain.
Adrenal hormones are essential for the function, strength and integrity of all the cells in the body. The adrenal glands are supported by B Vitamins, especially Niacin and B6, along with the full spectrum of amino acids, such as those found in nuts and other protein-rich foods. The vibratory frequency I hear pre-sounding in my inner musical ear in the adrenal glands resonates with Orange-red and the musical pitch of A sharp.”

ONE SPIRIT

“From this sacred center, the Spirit of the Single Eye brings tranquility and sharp focus to the lens of the mind for concentration and for shining forth the Light of Truth. This spirit endows the mind with the capacity of logic and reason, as well as common sense. This works both ways, for as the mind is single in purpose and intent, power is released by this spirit through the adrenal glands for effective, creative action. The Creative Command, which always starts with “Let,” is thus released and articulated by the angel into the substance of love that fills this sacred seal.” (Both excerpts are from Sacred Anatomy)

Tranquility and Focus are the gifts of the Spirit of the Single Eye. Here is the sixth verse of my poem The Seven Spirits of God:

I am the Spirit of the Single Eye
I bring power to my body, focus to my mind,
precision to my movement, tranquility to my world

THE EYE, THE LIGHT OF THE BODY

There is a passage in the Gospels that speaks to the function of the adrenal glands and the Spirit of the Single Eye.

The light of the body is the eye. When, therefore, thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also if full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.  (Luke 11:34-36)

Then there’s this expansion on the theme in the Gospel of James:

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8)

Not much more can be added to these statements.  They pretty much speak for themselves.  Jesus was a physician of the soul. He is called the “Great Physician.”  Luke is also thought to have been a physician. The health of the body is dependent upon the health of the soul.  The soul of a man is invisible.  It is the spiritual, or vibrational, aspect of the human being that is connected directly to the endocrine system by way of light frequencies encoded with messages from spirit.

The two adrenal glands are designed to be strictly under the direct control of the Spirit of the Single Eye.  The Single Eye radiates from out of the pineal gland in the center of the brain when the adrenal glands are engaged by the Spirit of the Single Eye.  Engaged by any other spirit these glands are not available to the Spirit of the Single Eye and will consequently fail in their normal function, which is to provide focus for clear and right thinking and power for precise action.  Such focus and power is born out of a tranquil mind, and tranquility is born out of patience.  We will consider patience in part 7 when we contemplate the Spirit of the New Earth and the gonadal glands.

The one standing in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks is described as having eyes that were “as a flame of fire.” Two eyes, one flame.  This is true for us when our eye is single.  We have power to focus our minds to accomplish the task at hand.  That focus is none other than Love.  When we love what we are doing and our thoughts spring out of a mind that is bent on doing what is right, we have limitless power available to us by reason of our adrenal glands.

St. Thomas recorded Jesus’ words in a little different way:

Therefore I say that if one is unified one will be filled with light; but if one is divided one will be filled with darkness. —Jesus, from The Gospel of Thomas

SERVE ONE MASTER

One can be divided by the nature of the purpose one serves. If that purpose is not true to one’s sense of honesty and integrity, true to one’s spiritual essence and purpose for living and serving in this world, then one is divided.  The Master Jesus said something about this state:

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.  (Matt 6:24)

Mammon relates to the deification of wealth and the worship of material riches set aside, as in a depository or investment, for security.  This pretty well describes the current state of affairs in our world.  I find there is much darkness present in human thinking regarding health and disease.  So little understanding of how the human body functions as a whole entity coordinated by the coherent light of life.  And I believe that this darkness of ignorance stems from the human scientific mind attempting to play God, only it doesn’t serve God. It serves mammon. It serves itself, thinking that by understanding the state of disease, which is darkness, it will be able to produce a state of health in human beings—and health is wealth, or so we say.  But we will never produce health by studying and understanding disease.   It is only by understanding health, which is light, that man will come to experience health.  Let the mind be filled with light and not darkness—the light of understanding rather than the darkness of ignorance. Light will then fill the human mind, and the whole body, when our eye is single—and that will happen when we serve God alone.  One master.

Let your mind be single in purpose and light will fill your whole body.  Power and strength, then, will be made available to you in your service to God and your neighbor.  A worthy resolution for the New Year.

Best wishes to your health and healing this New Year’s day and throughout the coming year.

Understanding “Fibromyalgia” Part 4: The Chronic Stress Factor

THE HORMONE FAMILY

Before we talk about chronic stress, there’s something we need to understand about the endocrine system and hormones. So, let’s talk about hormones first.

Hormones, I’ve learned, are a family and cannot be isolated and treated separately.  This is likely why “hormone therapy” is the best we can come up with in treating the symptoms of hormone dysfunction.  In medical science, we do not yet know how to restore function to hormonal glands when they malfunction—or, if we do, we’re not taking that route. The sole approach we’re taking with medicine today is the prescribing and ingesting of synthetic hormones, and in some cases the surgical removal of the malfunctioning gland altogether.  Rather barbaric, I’d say, and a testament to our horse-and-buggy approach to sickness and health yet in this the twenty-first century.

Of course, “natural hormone replacement therapy” is now available. But we’re still putting the hormones into the body instead of correcting the malfunction. The old axiom can be applied here: “Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach him  how to fish and feed him for a lifetime.”  You can give the body hormones or restore normal function to its own endocrine system. If you give the body hormones, the demand is taken away and the glands will not be called into action to produce their hormones.

FUNCTIONAL ENDOCRINOLOGY

Here’s were “Functional Medicine” comes into the health care arena to save the day—and our sacred endocrine system.  I’ve taken a few seminars in what is called “Functional Endocrinology” and, believe me, it’s a comprehensive and truly wholistic approach to balancing body chemistry. It also requires specializing, so I would encourage you to seek out an alternative practitioner who specializes in Functional Endocrinology and Clinical Nutrition, or a least uses muscle testing for system strength analysis, such as Contact Reflex Analysis or Quantum Reflex Analysis, in determining functional deficiencies and appropriate nutritional and herbal support.

THE STRESS RESPONSE AND THE “HPA AXIS”

In functional endocrinology we have what is called the “HPA Axis” (Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal).  These are the head coordinators of your endocrine family and are at the core of all hormonal activity, the most common of which is the “fight or flight” stress response.  Here’s how that works. The hypothalamus apprises the pituitary gland about conditions in the body and around it.  It’s the clearing house for information coming in through the five senses via the central nervous system.  It says if it’s hot or cold, dangerous or safe, turbulent or peaceful in your world—including your physical body, your closest and most personal world. The pituitary gland received the information via chemical messengers from the hypothalamus and proceeds to send out a hormone precursor to the adrenal glands (as it does to all the glands) for further hormone production.  The adrenal glands receive the precursors and squirts adrenalin into the blood stream to empower muscle cell activity.  The blood vessels contract and the muscles get ready to act on your command. This is so with all cellular activity in the body. Every cell in your body needs adrenalin to function properly—or to function at all.

If the stress response is not shut off for a length of time—weeks and months—the stress becomes chronic. Chronic stress is a known contributor to fibromyalgia, as well as Chronic Fatigue (CFS), which is often caused by hypothyroid function. The adrenal and thyroid glands share a close relationship in the hormone family.  The stress response triggers the production of adrenalin to get the muscles moving for flight or fight in the face of a threat—real or imagined.  If a person doesn’t fight or flee from a threat and the threat is not removed, the adrenalin is not used up.

Adrenalin, like all hormones, becomes a toxin if not used up or removed from the blood stream and muscle tissue.  It is used up in physical exercise.  It is broken down by enzymes and removed by the lymphatic system—which also depends on exercise to move lymph fluid through the tissues and on to its final destination at the left subclavian vein just above the heart where it enters the blood stream.  From there it is sent with the blood to the liver and kidneys to be filtered out and eliminated.  If this doesn’t happen and the adrenalin remains in the tissues, two things happen. One, the adrenal glands are shut down by the pituitary gland, which gets the message from the hypothalamus that there’s no need for more adrenalin as the muscle tissues are saturated with it.  Two, adrenalin, a steroid hormone called “cortisol,” is the bully of the hormone family if it doesn’t get its way.  It wrecks havoc in estrogen chemistry balance and interferes with thyroid function.

There’s only one answer: deal with the stress factor.  Fight back or flee the situation.  Preferably, resolve it.  Now, you can’t always do that, especially if the stress factor is your job or your marital relationship.  You may need both—for a while anyway— so, denied a successful resolution, you stand or sit there in a state of quiet desperation while chronic stress sets in.  This sends a message to your hypothalamus that you’re not going to do anything about the stress.  A cascade of failures ensue:

  1. The hypothalamus gets confused and frustrated, or at best incoherent, and may simply shut down.
  2. This leaves the pituitary gland without clear and coherent instructions on what hormone precursors are needed by the family members of the endocrine system to make their hormones.  An incoherent pituitary gland spells confusion and depression for the brain.
  3. The thyroid gland falls off in its production of thyroid and parathyroid hormones, directly impacting your metabolism.  You gain weight and lose bone density.
  4. The thymus gland doesn’t get the feedback it needs about outside invaders and the possible need for an immune response.
  5. The Beta cells of the pancreas  (Islets of Langerhans) don’t know how much insulin to make to keep blood sugar balanced, resulting in hypo and/or hyperglycemia.
  6. The adrenal glands just shut down leaving you with restless nights and no stamina during the day.
  7. Finally, the sex hormone glands (the gonads) go haywire without the pituitary gland’s stimulating hormone precursors—the menstrual cycle loses its regularity and your libido shuts down in the absence of any desire to reproduce your stressed-out self.  Survival, not reproduction, growth and healing, is your body’s primary interest at this point.

You get the picture, I believe.  A family feud breaks out among your hormone glands—all because your hypothalamus is confused and your adrenal glands are exhausted. The result is pain and more pain and a complete lack of energy.  (I won’t repeat the diagnostic terms medicine has for these conditions so as not to re-enforce mental fixations that get in the way of healing.)

OXYTOCIN TO THE RESCUE!

There is one out.  Relax, throw your shoulders back, smile and be thankful for your circumstance . . . that you have a circumstance!   A thankful attitude releases oxytocin into the blood stream which disengages the stress response. So does a hug and a hand shake. So, find someone to hug—or just hug yourself— and shake hands with someone, anyone! Get that oxytocin flowing 🙂

TOTAL PROTOCOL SUMMARY

1. First, detoxify. Do a 21-day total body purification using the Purification Kit by Standard Process. The cost: $240.  Repeat this purification program every 4 months for a year, then twice a year thereafter.

2. For gouty arthritis and fluid retention, abstain from highly seasoned and high purine foods (turkey, pork, heavy beef, lentils, dried beans, avocados, and beer) and take the following:

  1. AC Carbamide  – 3 capsules with a tall glass of purified or spring water three times a day to support the kidneys in removing uric acid from the blood and excess fluid from the tissues. ($18/90 caps)
  2. Iodomere  – 2 tablets with meals (6 a day) for thyroid support and to help the kidneys take up fluid. ($19/90 tabs)
  3. DermaCo herbal – one or two tablet per day to help maintain a normal level of uric acid in the bloodstream. ($28/40 tabs)

3.  During and after the 21-day purification, support your lymphatic system with daily brisk walks or rebounding exercise and take the following:

  1.  Take 10 drops of Lymphapar sublingual 3 times daily for 7 days then once daily for 90 days. ($14/1 oz bottle. You’ll need 3 or 4 bottles.  Email me and I’ll send you some as this is not an SP product.)
  2. Add to that 1 Cal Amo tablet with each meal for 30 days. ($12/90 tabs)
  3. Take 4 Allerplex capsules twice a day to help get rid of metabolic waste and histamines, particularly from the lungs and bronchial tubes. ($24/150 caps)

 4.  Next, support your immune system with the following supplements over the first 90 days:

  1. Echinacea Premium (2/day)
  2. Immuplex (6/day),
  3. Thymex (6/day),
  4. St. John’s Wort (2/day) – Contraindicated with life-dependent medicines as it detoxifies drugs in the liver.
  5. Astragalus (2/day)

5. Support the stress-response and hormone system as detailed above.

Take this in steps and stages, and don’t rush the process.  You didn’t get fibromyalgia or CFS overnight.  Allow one month of correction for every year of chronic illness after going through a 90-day intensive.  It takes that long to turn a deteriorating health pattern around and build an integrating health pattern. And, above all, be patient—and aim to maintain an attitude of gratitude! 🙂

This completes my consideration of  fibromyalgia.  I will resume my series “Seven Glands for Seven Spirits” with the next post.  Until then,

Here’s to your health and healing . . . and a happy and healthy holiday season.

Seven Glands for Seven Spirits — Part 1: The Pineal for the Spirit of Love

Life flows from above, down, inside, out, like this cool, clear mountain stream.

There have been so many visits to my last post, Musical Hormone Chemistry, that I am moved to expand the consideration a bit and look deeper into the essences behind hormonal activity.  I want to dwell for the length of several posts on the spiritual vibrations that generate the essences of hormones along with their functions in the body temple.  These next seven posts will be in large part inspired writing.  Let’s see where the inspiration leads, starting with the known and opening to what is yet unknown waiting to be known and experienced.

We know there are seven ductless endocrine glands in the body that produce and secrete a plethora of hormonal crystals.  We also know that these crystals of hormones move tissue cells and organic physiology in an harmonious collaboration carrying out the various functional activities in our temples of flesh, sinew, blood and bone.  The result is a symphony of life performed in a body that is fit for a God Being to incarnate from out of the Realms of Light and into the dark, wet world of protoplasm.  How this happens is a miracle best allowed to remain a sacred mystery.  (The mind doesn’t need to know everything.)

THE TRUTH OF LIFE IS ONENESS

We also know that life is one infinite and eternal Essence shared by all living forms.  One breath of shared air ebbing and flowing through gills, lungs and whatever other faculties the myriad types of creatures on the planet have been endowed with by the Creator to breathe the breath of life.  We are drawn together under this one common denominator: we breathe the same breath of life.  What is it that draws us together so?  “Is it love?” John Denver sings.  Love, the irresistible, compelling, magnetic Force that draws all Creation together to breathe as one cohesive whole.  The truth of life is oneness.  Yes, it is love, John.

A poem came through my heart and pen back when I was writing Sacred Anatomya meditative journey through the body temple.  Sharing it now may open portals of awareness to what’s unknown. It’s titled “The Seven Spirits of Love.”  I will take one verse at a time and see what more is revealed.

THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF LOVE

I am the spirit of love.

I draw my world together as a playing field for my creativity.

I and my  world are one.

I seed and father the life of my world.

Seeding is a garden activity.  A gardener sows seeds to grow life forms—plants, flowers, fruit—in fertile soil.  So does Love seed the field of consciousness that brings forth living forms, each in its own season.  This Sower is a Musician and the seed sown by Love is a vibration, a Tone that sets in motion a myriad of overtones and harmonics that reverberate throughout the hallowed chambers of the temple. It all starts at the highest level in the inner sanctum where a seat has been set for the Gardener to sit upon and tend his garden.

THE PINEAL BODY

The Pineal Body

In our body temples, that seat is the throne of the Pineal Body.  From this throne, the Master Gardener sows one seed that will bring forth life as a symphony of light and sound in the temple.  That seed is the Word of life sent forth as a Tone laying the spiritual and physical foundations of our earthen temple from the beginning, using but two half-cells, a female ovum and a male sperm–two in agreement with love–to initiate the creative process that will bring forth a child from the womb in nine months . . . and the Word is thus made flesh.

How did we get from the Pineal Body in the center of the cranium all the way down  into the generative juices of the Gonads in the pelvis?   Well, the Tone of love sounds loud and clear all the way from top to bottom, from beginning to new beginning—there’s no end with eternal life—and it’s all about rhythm and harmonic overtones and undertones.  It’s also about melody and phrasing, songs within songs and cycles within cycles.  Ezekiel saw it as “wheels within wheels” in his vision of the Creative Process.

CIRCADIAN RHYTHMS

Rhythm.  Circadian rhythms are a pineal function directed by way of the hormone known as Melatonin, made from converted Seratonin in this mysterious gland positioned within the inner sanctum of the temple between the two winglike lobes of the cerebellum.  These lobes are reminiscent of the two angels atop the Biblical Ark of the Covenant with wings outstretched and hovering over the “mercy seat” situated between them at the exact point where their eyes meet as they gaze eternally into one another’s eyes.  Ever do that with another incarnate angel?  Look into his/her eyes for a while? Not just a glance, but a peer. It’s pure light as of a fire burning on a double-edged sword that burns and soothes at the same time, hot at its outer edges but cool blue at its central flame with the distinct qualities of compassion and mercy.  Mercy and compassion are predominant qualities of the Spirit of Love seated within the Pineal Body.

We’re talking about rhythm and yet find ourselves talking about eyes and fire and wings hovering over the inner sanctum where a throne is set in the heaven of this body temple for the Spirit of Love to sit and direct the symphony of life.  The rhythm of cycles—the sleep and waking cycle, the appetite cycle, the digestive and elimination cycles, the breathing cycle, the heart-beat cycle, the menstrual cycle.  Cycles within cycles timed to blend with overlapping precision and impeccable accuracy.

Circadian rhyhms (from the Latin circa, around or about, and diem, day) set our daily cycles in motion from the time we go to sleep to the time we awake and coordinate and synchronize our biological clock with the rhythm of the Earth’s rotation around the Sun.  Night follows day and day night.  As in Genesis, evening and morning comprise the duration of a day.

But we’re not the only living beings with pineal glands.  Whales have large pineal glands to help them navigate the deep oceans of the Earth and adjust to the conditions of the environment. Those that live close to the equator have smaller pineals than those who live closer to the two poles where climate conditions are colder and more challenging.  All vertebrate animals have pineal glands to keep them in sync with the daily and seasonal cycles constantly on the move around and about the planet.  All life forms, for that matter, have ways of knowing the rhythm of cycles and the “ordinances of heaven” and how to “set the dominion thereof in the earth,” to borrow a line from the Book of Job.  Consider only the migrating ducks and geese and the tiny humming bird.

Speaking of seasons and cycles, consider this:

God’s accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs:

For example: the eggs of the potato bug hatch in 7 days; those of the canary in 14 days; those of the barnyard hen in 21 days. The eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days; those of the mallard in 35 days. The eggs of the parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days.(Notice, they are all divisible by seven, the number of days in a week and of colors in the rainbow!)

God’s wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant. The four legs of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No other quadruped is so made. God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to live on two legs. For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily.

The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first. A cow rises from the ground with its two hind legs first. How wise the Lord is in all His works of creation!

God’s wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as well as in the number of grains. Each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the rind. Each orange has an even number of segments. Each ear of corn has an even number of rows. Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains.

Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number and the next row an odd number.

The waves of the sea roll in on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.

All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord specified thirty fold, sixty fold, and a hundred fold all even numbers.

God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the day. Linnaeus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed!

The lives of each of you may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way for His glory, if you will only entrust Him with your life. If you try to regulate your own life, it will only be a mess and a failure. Only the One Who made the brain and the heart can successfully guide them to a profitable end.

Love has a way of keeping its creative playing field together in a breathing mass of oneness.  All things are connected.  It’s just the nature of the Spirit of Love.

YET UNKNOWN ALCHEMY

Much has been written about the Pineal Body, or gland, and its relationship to the “Third Eye,” having vestigial retinal tissue as part of its physical makeup. We know little about the potential of its chemistry in expanding consciousness to peer into and perhaps even visit other dimensions and higher levels of being.  There is an alchemy that would release untold powers of transmutation at this seventh level of being in the body temple.  “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard . . . .”  Speculations abound in books and on websites.  But they are only imaginings of the mind.  As I said earlier, the mind doesn’t need to know everything. The heart, on the other hand, understands the essences of the world of spirit.  Purified by utter love of God, the heart sees and understands God.  It is in the purified heart where the mystery of God is finished on Earth and the Pineal Body is renewed to work its magic of transmutation.  That day is come as we enter the new era of a Golden Age.

We speak of our bodies as temples.  But I see the entire planet Earth as a Cathedral where God is present, with Man, male and female together, providing the tabernacle for God’s presence on Earth. This will be the theme of my next post when we will consider the Pituitary gland, along with the second verse of my poem and the Spirit of the Womb. Until then. . .

Healing Magic of Attunement

In all my fifty years as a physician, I have not found anything more magical than attunement.  I could spend hours holding a focused current of love over the crown chakra and the pineal gland. Sometimes this is all I do for fifteen to twenty  minutes while sharing attunement with someone long-distance.  I simply bring the fingers of my right hand together to focus a current over the tip of my left thumb as though my thumb were the head of the person.  I have found long-distance attunement to be powerfully intense and fruitful in terms of healing and transformation, perhaps even more so than when the person is present physically.Touching into one’s energetic field and core essence in this way is a very sacred and profoundly healing experience.

I speak of these two aspects of our being as though they were separate.  In reality they are as one as the sunshine is with its source in the sun and the rainbow is with the white ray of sunshine. . . and, but for an occasionally cloudy day, there would always be sunshine and rainbows to brighten our days.   Inevitably, sunshine and rainbows return as the warmth of the sun evaporates the cold, damp air of the clouds.

In a way, that’s what health and disease are, clear and cloudy days within our body-mind and heart.  Attunement brings on the sunshine of love to encompass and enfold the body-mind and heart in an atmosphere of light. . . and more.   The focused current of love that moves during an attunement session resonates at the very core of the individuals sharing attunement,  amplifying the spiritual frequency of that core essence.  It is this intensification of the core current of love within that is the Source of the attunement blessing and healing, as all healing comes from within.

We’ve put up a couple of yard signs at the entrance to our health center here in Lake Charles that read: Health. . . Begins Inside. So does disease.  And, just like clouds, disease is transformed by the warmth of love and the flow of life through the body.  All one has to do is dissipate the clouds of discontentment, fear, resentment, guilt and shame that bring on the rains of complaint, criticism and judgement that create dissonance in the body-mind and heart.  Love only will accomplish that with its rainbow frequencies of thankfulness, patience, forgiveness, compassion, understanding, joy, appreciation, and kindness to ourselves and others.

Living in attunement with love is easy.  Existing under the cloud of discontentment disconnected from love is difficult.  That’s why we have so many difficulties in life.  If you find yourself unable to dissipate your mental and emotional clouds and shake off physical pain and illness, simply remember who you are, a sunbeam of love, throw your shoulders back and smile.  Then break out in hearty laughter at how silly you’ve allowed yourself to be worrying and fussing about trivial things that really don’t matter nearly as much as your health and happiness, life itself.  Attune your heart to the sweet and strong vibration of love.  And if you need help doing that, call me for a long-distance attunement session.  If you’re in the area, come in for an attunement with sound.  Talk about magical!  Attunement with the harmonious sounds of quartz crystal and Tibetan singing bowls is deeply and profoundly healing, and I love sharing such attunements more than anything else I offer as  a holistic healer.

Health is all about coherence, harmony.  Introducing a coherent energy into a dissonant field immediately dispels the dissonance and restores harmony.  And that’s all you have to remember. A wise man once wrote:

We never know how far reaching something we may think, say or do today will affect the lives of millions tomorrow.  It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” (Elbert Hubbard).

That’s because light is coherent coming as it does from Source.  Darkness is nothing but the absence of light.  Likewise, disease is nothing but the absence of health.  Attunement opens a door inside the heart for the outpouring of abundant life, and with abundant life comes health, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.  Health begins inside.

Body-mind and Nutrition

Tony Pics for SA BookMind and body are inseparable until death.   The human mind arises from the physical body and vanishes with it.  The health of the mind, then, is directly related to the health of the physical body, particularly the health of the brain.  A child, for instance, diagnosed with an attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), or attention deficit disorder (ADD), may well be simply undernourished, or consuming too much sugar.

Sugar and the Brain

The brain and central nervous system run on sugar.  But not the kind of sugar found in candy and soft drinks.  The sugar the brain needs is called glycogen and is made in the liver.  Supplementing with inositol will stimulate liver production of glycogen.   Ironically, the process of making  glycogen in the liver is compromised with the intake of too much dietary sugar from candy and soft drinks.  High fructose corn syrup/sugar is probably the biggest offender simply by reason of the prevalence of it in processed foods.  It’s everywhere in our foods and beverages making our children fat and unable to process sugar at all.  It should be outlawed.

ADD and ADHD

The problem with ADD is one of focus and concentration.  I’ve treated many children with ADD over the years and all of them responded favorably to inositol supplementation, often the next day.  They were able to get off Ritalin.  They were able to focus and concentrate on their lessons.

Ritalin is speed.  It’s a drug.  We are teaching our children to solve their problems with drugs.  What a horrible disservice, to say the least.   I’ve heard reputable psychiatrists say on television that more children needed to be put on Ritalin.  They should have their licenses revoked, and Ritalin should be forbidden to be given to children.  There’s a natural way to correct the cause of attention deficit and hyperactive disorders.

The problem with ADHD is one of poor nutrition and chronic stress.  The brain is simply starving to death and does not have the energy to turn itself off at night.  It runs all night and all day at breakneck speed.  I’ve treated many ADHD children with wholefood nutrition supplementation with favorable results.  Feed the brain with wholesome nourishment and it will perform like a Swiss watch.

Adrenal fatigue brought on by chronic stress can also cause ADD.  With chronic stress, the adrenal glands become exhausted and fail to produce sufficient adrenalin for the cells of the brain to function, even to retire for the night.   Every cell of the body needs adrenalin in order to function at all.  Waking up in the morning feeling exhausted is a classic symptom of adrenal fatigue caused by chronic stress.

Simply supporting the adrenal glands with therapeutic wholefood supplements and herbs will bring favorable results, often overnight.  Of course, the chronic stress needs to be dealt with in order to address the cause.  There are excellent herbal preparations now available that help us adapt more easily to change and environmental stress.

For more specific information on the nutritional and herbal remedies alluded to in this article, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Turn stress into peace and calm!

THE CALM, CONNECT AND COORDINATE SYSTEM

You’ve heard of the “fight, flight or freeze syndrome,” haven’t you? That system is turned on by stress, or by reaction to stressors which makes you distressed. Well, the calm, connect and coordinate system is what turns it off, restoring you to a state of calm wherein you can sink back into your skin and reconnect with your body as well as your environment instead of fleeing from them. It also gets the cells of your body functioning as a well-coordinated whole once again rather than galvanized, or frozen, in an isolated state of self-defense. This syndrome is turned on by a rarely talked about and scarcely understood hormone: Oxytocin.

Produced in the hypothalamus–a part of the brain that coordinates pituitary hormone production with the central nervous system and with what’s occurring around you–and stored in the posterior pituitary where it is released as a hormone to circulate through the body, oxytocin functions by altering or modulating the activities in other major body systems. It can have very long-lasting effects as these major systems work in a feedback loop and stimulate more oxytocin production. New discoveries are showing oxytocin is produced in many different places, including the heart and blood vessel walls, ovaries, and testes.

The hormone, Vasopressin–which stimulates the stress syndrome–is also produced in the hypothalamus and is stored and released by the posterior pituitary gland. Also known as an anti-diuretic hormone (ADH), it functions to maintain the body’s fluid volume and balance. In addition, vasopressin acts to increase aggression, hyper-vigilance, and other fight or flight type reactions.    Our understanding of oxytocin and the calm and connection system is in its infancy. Almost all study has been directed to the fight or flight or distress handling system. Most textbooks still state that oxytocin’s only functions are to simulate uterine contraction and facilitate lactation in females (along with prolactin).

In oxytocin producing cells the electric impulses do not occur one by one, but in a cluster. When the cells are powerfully stimulated, as in breast-feeding, (or other oxytocin stimulating behavior) the electrical activity becomes coordinated and the cells act in concert. This is part of the reason large amounts of oxytocin can be released in nursing women.  Estrogen can activate the oxytocin system and prolong its effects. Therefore, at certain times oxytocin affects females more potently than males. Testosterone can activate vasopressin and sustain its effects. Therefore, at certain times, vasopressin affects males more potently than females. Neurons that contain serotonin stimulate the release of oxytocin. This may be part of the mechanism of action of SSRI drugs that affect mood and anxiety levels. (Dopamine and noradrenalin also stimulate oxytocin release.) As you can see by the following list, there are many ways we can foster the calm, connect and coordinate system.

So, next time you find yourself stressed out over something, start producing oxytocin!

What stimulates Oxytocin release?

Giving thanks, being thankful and grateful, coming into the present moment with unconditional acceptance of things the way they are as being perfect; feelings of security, sensation and pleasure; touch, stroking, rhythmic touch; friendship, closeness, bonding experiences; sexual behavior, sex and intimacy, childbirth (uterine contractions), nursing and sucking (thumb-sucking); thoughts, memories, feelings of all the above; and probably such things as . . .

Some types of massage, chiropractic spinal adjustments, acupuncture, and other body-mind-spirit based techniques; energy work, attunement healing (Reiki); laughter and random happiness, deep sleep (delta), deep rhythmic breathing, Yoga, tai chi, and other related practices; rocking, singing, meditation, certain types of music, dance, art, literature, poetry; giving and receiving unconditional love; interaction with animals; a job or activity well done, especially if it benefits many; play and other positive and meaningful experiences.

Isn’t it wonderful how our bodies look after us and respond to our every wish and intention!  The body never makes a mistake.  Everything it does is perfect.  We have every reason to trust it.
