Seven Glands for Seven Spirits—Part 6: Adrenals and the Single Eye

 Adrenal Glands atop the kidneys

Adrenal Glands atop the kidneys

THE ADRENAL GLANDS

“Two adrenal glands, more or less pyramid in shape, are located one above each kidney. Their primary hormones are adrenaline and its cohort, noradrenaline (produced in the adrenal medulla, the inner part), and corticosteroids or cortisone (produced in the adrenal cortex, the outer part). These are secreted upon demand and especially when the body is exposed to stress and strain.
Adrenal hormones are essential for the function, strength and integrity of all the cells in the body. The adrenal glands are supported by B Vitamins, especially Niacin and B6, along with the full spectrum of amino acids, such as those found in nuts and other protein-rich foods. The vibratory frequency I hear pre-sounding in my inner musical ear in the adrenal glands resonates with Orange-red and the musical pitch of A sharp.”

ONE SPIRIT

“From this sacred center, the Spirit of the Single Eye brings tranquility and sharp focus to the lens of the mind for concentration and for shining forth the Light of Truth. This spirit endows the mind with the capacity of logic and reason, as well as common sense. This works both ways, for as the mind is single in purpose and intent, power is released by this spirit through the adrenal glands for effective, creative action. The Creative Command, which always starts with “Let,” is thus released and articulated by the angel into the substance of love that fills this sacred seal.” (Both excerpts are from Sacred Anatomy)

Tranquility and Focus are the gifts of the Spirit of the Single Eye. Here is the sixth verse of my poem The Seven Spirits of God:

I am the Spirit of the Single Eye
I bring power to my body, focus to my mind,
precision to my movement, tranquility to my world

THE EYE, THE LIGHT OF THE BODY

There is a passage in the Gospels that speaks to the function of the adrenal glands and the Spirit of the Single Eye.

The light of the body is the eye. When, therefore, thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also if full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.  (Luke 11:34-36)

Then there’s this expansion on the theme in the Gospel of James:

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8)

Not much more can be added to these statements.  They pretty much speak for themselves.  Jesus was a physician of the soul. He is called the “Great Physician.”  Luke is also thought to have been a physician. The health of the body is dependent upon the health of the soul.  The soul of a man is invisible.  It is the spiritual, or vibrational, aspect of the human being that is connected directly to the endocrine system by way of light frequencies encoded with messages from spirit.

The two adrenal glands are designed to be strictly under the direct control of the Spirit of the Single Eye.  The Single Eye radiates from out of the pineal gland in the center of the brain when the adrenal glands are engaged by the Spirit of the Single Eye.  Engaged by any other spirit these glands are not available to the Spirit of the Single Eye and will consequently fail in their normal function, which is to provide focus for clear and right thinking and power for precise action.  Such focus and power is born out of a tranquil mind, and tranquility is born out of patience.  We will consider patience in part 7 when we contemplate the Spirit of the New Earth and the gonadal glands.

The one standing in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks is described as having eyes that were “as a flame of fire.” Two eyes, one flame.  This is true for us when our eye is single.  We have power to focus our minds to accomplish the task at hand.  That focus is none other than Love.  When we love what we are doing and our thoughts spring out of a mind that is bent on doing what is right, we have limitless power available to us by reason of our adrenal glands.

St. Thomas recorded Jesus’ words in a little different way:

Therefore I say that if one is unified one will be filled with light; but if one is divided one will be filled with darkness. —Jesus, from The Gospel of Thomas

SERVE ONE MASTER

One can be divided by the nature of the purpose one serves. If that purpose is not true to one’s sense of honesty and integrity, true to one’s spiritual essence and purpose for living and serving in this world, then one is divided.  The Master Jesus said something about this state:

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.  (Matt 6:24)

Mammon relates to the deification of wealth and the worship of material riches set aside, as in a depository or investment, for security.  This pretty well describes the current state of affairs in our world.  I find there is much darkness present in human thinking regarding health and disease.  So little understanding of how the human body functions as a whole entity coordinated by the coherent light of life.  And I believe that this darkness of ignorance stems from the human scientific mind attempting to play God, only it doesn’t serve God. It serves mammon. It serves itself, thinking that by understanding the state of disease, which is darkness, it will be able to produce a state of health in human beings—and health is wealth, or so we say.  But we will never produce health by studying and understanding disease.   It is only by understanding health, which is light, that man will come to experience health.  Let the mind be filled with light and not darkness—the light of understanding rather than the darkness of ignorance. Light will then fill the human mind, and the whole body, when our eye is single—and that will happen when we serve God alone.  One master.

Let your mind be single in purpose and light will fill your whole body.  Power and strength, then, will be made available to you in your service to God and your neighbor.  A worthy resolution for the New Year.

Best wishes to your health and healing this New Year’s day and throughout the coming year.

Seven Glands for Seven Spirits, Part 4: Purification and the Thymus Gland

Life flows from above, down, inside, out, like this cool, clear mountain stream.

I am the Spirit of Purification

I protect the life and this temple from harm

I bring heaven and earth together as one

I give assurance to my world that all is well

THE “ANGELIC GLAND” OF THE THYMUS

Young Thymus Gland

This graphic by artist David Stefaniak depicts the young thymus gland inside the upper chest cavity. (Click on it to enlarge) Variously called the “angelic gland” in Gray’s Anatomy, the thymus is rather large up until about the age of puberty when it shrinks allowing the guileless child to lose its angelic quality as it matures so that it can live in the coarser “fallen” world without being crushed.

The T cells of the thymus gland migrate to the marrow of the long bones where they will perform their roles ruthlessly defending the body temple from invaders up until the “golden years” (around age 70) when they migrate back to the chest to reconstitute the thymus gland.  Shakespeare poetically describes this “sixth age” of man as the age of “second childishness and mere oblivion.  Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.”  Everything, that is, except sweet memories of years gone by, some perhaps not so sweet.  The elderly regain that golden glow of childhood as their carefree spirit shines through their countenance once again and they return to their childlike innocence and playfulness, coupled with a certain gained sense of assurance about who they are and why they are here.

Assurance is the gift of the Spirit of Purification given freely through the Thymus gland, a gift that we would do well to receive and nourish for ourselves, as well as accommodate in our elders rather than deprive them of their usefulness as wisdom bearers for the young.  Young people belong with the elderly, and in some cultures this is their traditional way of life.  Assurance comes through purity of heart, and the heart is purified by love burning through it.  For one to reach the Golden Years with a purified heart—or any period during spiritual maturity—is a wonderful blessing, for the pure in heart see God in everyone and everything.

KEEPING THE TEMPLE CLEAN AND NOURISHED

The Thymus  gland—a large, flat grayish structure located just behind the sternum (breastbone) and in front of the heart, like a shield protecting this vital organ—plays a key role in the process of distributing nutrients and elimination toxins.  Here is the heart of what is referred to as the “immune system,” situated at about the level of the paps on a man’s chest.  In the context and order of the frequencies in the light spectrum, it would radiate a wavelength of yellow-gold with a vibratory pitch correlating with C Natural.

[Note: The Heart Chakra resonates to the musical pitch of F Natural. The musical pitch C is the fifth harmonic in the F Major chord (F A C). In my attunement with sacred sound service I use this chord to provide a harmonic wave of sound to carry the healing current of love in balancing this sacred energy center. Playing the F quartz crystal bowl over the chest affords a profound and deep sense of peace and helps to deepen one’s awareness of love’s presence in the heart.]

In the Book of Revelation, John describes the One in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks as being “…girt about the paps with a golden girdle.”   This area would include the entire upper thorax contained within the rib cage—the lungs, the heart, the thymus and spleen, and the solar plexus.   This entire section of the anatomy is taken up with activities relating to circulation, purification and ascension.  The golden glow of love fills this area with substance so that these activities are carried out as gently and painlessly as possible.

The Thymus accomplishes its tasks largely by way of the lymphatic system. The function of the lymphatic system is to pick up the excess fluid and metabolic waste between the cells and tissues, destroy what does not belong in the body and put it all back into circulation through the bloodstream. Much like a cleanup crew on a construction site, lymph brings building blocks of nutrients to the cells and distributes lymphocytes (white blood cells) throughout the body to destroy pathogens as it sweeps up and carries away the metabolic waste. There are some 75 million on these lymphocytes at work among the approximately 75 trillion cells in the body temple.   Having no pump to move it, as does the bloodstream, lymphatic fluid depends on the movement of muscles for its circulation.  Exercise, especially brisk walking and rebounding, helps to move this fluid around throughout the body.

IMMUNE ALLIANCE

The Thymus gland is the control center for the sizable electromagnetic energy of the heart. It is with this energy field that the body maintains its integrity and protective hedge. Although we speak of an “immune system,” the reality is that the body does not have an immune system in as much as it is an immune system in its functional totality, considering the vast distribution of lymphocytes throughout the body. Systems such as the skeletal, respiratory, reproductive, endocrine, central nervous system, and others are complete functioning systems with a clear set of organs and responses. Our “immune system” may best be described as an immune alliance between various systems and organs which, when coordinated by the brain, give an immune response to the presence of any and all non-self elements and associated dis-ease factors that are not a natural part of the internal landscape of the body.

This immune alliance is composed of the thymus gland, which develops the immature lymphocytes ; the spleen which produces antibodies and which includes the lymphatic and blood circulatory systems; the long bones of the skeletal system which contain bone-marrow that gives birth to leukocytes (white blood cells). Then there are the organs of the digestive system: the stomach and pancreas, which make Hydrochloric acid and enzymes that destroy ingested parasites and carcinogens, the intestinal flora which destroy pathogenic microbes and manufacture B12, and the liver which detoxifies the blood and produces enzymes that break down dead tissue cells and repair those that are damaged. So when I speak of the “immune system,” it is to this alliance that I am referring and not to some specific system in the body. (Excerpted and adapted from Sacred Anatomy)

THE SPIRIT OF PURIFICATION IN THE FOURTH DIMENSION

And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh an abomination or maketh a lie…. (Rev. 21:27)

These words from Revelation refer to the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, that comes down from God out of Heaven.  The human temple of the Living God was designed to be the means by which the Holy City and New Jerusalem should come into the world.  The words “City” and “Jerusalem” here stand for a state of consciousness.  The seat of consciousness in the body temple resides in the brain. Therefore, the brain was designed to be well protected by the Spirit of Purification which dwells with the Thymus gland and employs the immune system of the body temple to keep toxins from entering the inner sanctum of the brain.  Here in the cranium, as we saw in the first two parts of this series, is where the Spirit of Love and the Spirit of the Womb work their sacred alchemy through the Pineal and Pituitary glands bringing forth the Spirit of Life through the Thyroid gland in the throat. The Thymus gland is the fourth of the seven endocrine glands.

This was the original divine design from the beginning: that no defilement, abomination or lie should enter the holiest place in the body temple. That design, of course, has been thwarted—the integrity of the inner sanctum compromised—by the self-serving human ego that has usurped the throne of deity in the human temple. What we now have in the Body of Mankind is an immune system that has been weakened and compromised by the absence of love in human expression and activity.  Fear has chronically infected the human heart shutting down the Body’s immune system. Disease and death are everywhere at hand. Nevertheless, the Divine Design remains, as the Creator stays with his creation for as long as it exists and continues to make love available to it. Fear needs to be cast out of the heart and soul of Man. Only by perfect love can this be accomplished.

Perfect love is a fire that burns away the bonds holding the heart a prisoner to fear.  Fear is a darkness.  It is nothing.  It is the absence of light.  It is faith in evil. Fear has cast a shadow of disease and death throughout the third dimension of the material world where the human species hangs by a thread over the abyss of impending extinction.

But the Earth has not been detained in its renewal and transition into the fourth dimension presently underway.  Ascension is in progress—for the Earth and for Mankind.  The fourth dimension is characterized by the purifying and transforming fire of love. It is where the Spirit of Purification wields the flaming sword that keeps the way to the Tree of Life in the fifth dimension, and no soul can get past this Angel and partake of the fruit of the Tree of Life without letting go of fear and embracing Love utterly and without reservation.

Every soul is important to the larger scheme of things and is loved more than anyone can imagine.  You are loved beyond your wildest dreams.  Let you love light shine without condition or concern to be loved in return.  It is we who are in need of returning love to the One who has loved us first and from all eternity with a greater love than we could every muster in our human hearts.

GOLDEN LIGHT OF LOVE

The Menorah
Seven Golden Candlesticks

“And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.” (Rev. 1: 12)

The Spirit of Purification works at this fourth vibratory level in the body temple to guard the sacred space of the upper region in the cranium and keep anything from entering here that would defile or in any way hurt this sanctum. The golden essence of love’s light is constantly intensified and clarified in order to assure a pure-hearted expression of creative power. Thus the color gold was seen by John in the region of the paps of this one like unto the Son of man.

Uranda closes Lesson Forty-two in his Steps to Mastership with these reassuring words:

“And girt about the paps with a golden girdle.” And He is girt about the MIDDLE PART OF HIS BEING with a Golden Girdle, the Golden Girdle of PERFECT SOUL EXPRESSION which surrounds and fills the vital parts of Being. The Solar Center, which is the throne of so-called subconscious mind; the Heart, the throne of all feeling and emotion; the Lungs, the throne of Spirit cleansing and Life-giving—ALL are GIRT ABOUT with the PERFECT BEING OF OUR FATHER, the MASTER-SELF WITHIN. Such must be the state of those who would enter in and SEE the glories of Fourth Plane Being. Meditate upon these revelations and let them fill thy Life and Light thy Way, that thy attainment may be sure.”

The only thing standing in the way of attainment in Fourth Plane Being is the veil of the heart which connects the third level of being with the fourth. This veil has become laden with the residue of past experiences, both individual and collective, so that it has taken on a dense, opaque texture and consistency. To enter in here this veil must be pierced—or, as in the Master Jesus’ experience, “rent in twain,” through forgiveness and utter abandon to the will of the Father. He left the third and entered into the fourth dimension of being, passing through the veil of the collective impure heart. But he didn’t stop there.  He went all the way to his Father in the Seventh Heaven. Waiting on the other side of the veil, in the fourth dimension, is the incarnate angel, the One I Am, standing in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks, one’s true identity.

By the light of this center in the Fourth Plane I am able to know with assurance who I am and what my purpose is on earth. I know myself as an angel, an emissary of heaven’s light, who has come on earth to bring a special gift. That gift is none other than my Self, a gift that I alone can bring. Assurance in this is the gift of the Spirit of Purification. (Excerpted and adapted from Sacred Anatomy)

The role of the Thymus gland and the immune system in the body temple is huge and complex, to say the least—both physically and spiritually.  When I am as ruthless as my immune system in tagging and eliminating all non-self thoughts and feelings from my mind and heart, those things that are not true to the truth of love, my life is much more simple and peaceful as my awareness of who I really am is kept clear and sure.  I will continue along these lines in my next post.  Until then,

Seven Glands for Seven Spirits, Part 3: Life and the Thyroid Gland

Green is the dominant color in the rainbow spectrum

In the last two posts we considered the vibrational essences at work behind and through the Pineal Body, or gland, and the Pituitary gland.  We referred to these essences as spirits. For the Pineal Body, or gland, we have the Spirit of Love. For the Pituitary gland, the Spirit of the Womb. In this post I offer a meditation on the spiritual essences behind and at play in and through the Thyroid gland.  The essential nature and character of that essence is Life itself.

THE SPIRIT OF LIFE

Here is the third verse of my poem The Seven Spirits of Love:

I am the Spirit of Life

I bring radiance to my world

I am born anew in each moment

For I am birthless, deathless, and eternally the same

I am the life of my world.

Another name for the Spirit of the Womb is the Spirit of Truth. When we consider the function of the physical womb, which provides the container for the developing embryo wherein the control factors essential to growing a living human form can be put in place, and the intricate design of life for this form can be safely and accurately transmitted and implemented, Truth is an apt name for this Spirit at work in the realm of form—and not just any “truth,” but the truth for the human form.  For that matter, the unique truth for all living forms that come through the Womb of the Great Mother in all Her glorious and diverse manifestations of Love in action, an action that brings forth life eternal on this earth.  Forms come and go, but life eternally abides. Life is what this entire planet is all about, and we are wise to pay it and its myriad forms due homage and respect lest we find our species and our entire world without it, and without form, one day.

OUR SPIRITUAL GODPARENTS

Life is fathered by Love (Pineal), conceived and nurtured in the Womb by the Spirit of Truth (Pituitary), and given birth moment by moment by the miraculous and mysterious workings of Spirit in and through the Thyroid Gland. This is how we are born as spirit beings into the material world.  Our spiritual bodies are nourished and revitalized by spirit working through these sacred endocrine centers.  These are our spiritual Godparents. In the Spirit of Love, the Spirit of the Womb, and the Spirit of Life, we are truly brothers and sisters all.

Thyroid Gland

The Thyroid gland provides the vibrational terrain through which the Spirit of Life works its radiant magic upon the cells of the body, energizing them with vibrancy. Resembling a butterfly, it is comprised of two lobes situated on either side of the larynx, or voice box, with four to eight small brownish-red parathyroid glands embedded in its tissues behind it.

Parathyroid glands

It seems accurate to say that this vital energy center plays a key role in setting the tone for the sound of the voice when we speak or sing. If we consider sound as a carrier wave for spirit conveying encoded information, we could see how spoken words convey the creative messages of spirit which shape and color our worlds according to their vibratory essences. In Genesis, for instance, we have the phrase “And God said, ‘Let there be light.’” Sound was the very first means by which the spirit of God “moved upon the face of waters” in creating this world.

The movement of the spirit of God upon the face of the waters of consciousness produces a pulse. That pulse becomes a series of beats, which then becomes a wave, which becomes a tone, and the tone becomes the creative word which creates light, out of which all creation springs forth.  So it is with our own creative processes. A creative pulse at the core of our hearts becomes a wave of thought that carries a vibrational tone articulated by words which convey information that organizes and arranges the matter that creates our worlds.

THE COLOR GREEN AND THE NUMBER 5

Life comes from above down inside and out. The horizontal line at the top of the number 5 represents heaven; the short line coming down represents movement downward; the curve represents the creative process or cycle which is open to release life out into creation.

In numerology, the number 5 is the symbol for Life. The fifth and dominant color in the light spectrum is green, and the color green correlates with the vibrational frequency of the Thyroid.  Green is the dominant color of the natural world of trees and grass.  Green is also the color of our money, which aptly represents the life force we share between us in our exchange of goods and our services to one another and to the Whole. The Thyroid is the fifth endocrine gland of seven and is positioned at the Golden Mean (.618) of the distance from the first and the last of the endocrine glands, the position of our voice as well.

The musical pitches of green range between C# and D.  In terms of the Golden Mean, C# is the fifth pitch in the chromatic scale of thirteen notes, which include both the white and the black keys on the piano.  Five is at the Golden Mean between one and thirteen.  In my attunement with sacred sound work I’ve found the G Major chord (G-B-D) to resonate the Thyroid energy center and the Throat Chakra.  It’s more a matter of resonance than nailing down a specific “note” for these essences. There are some 70 shades, for example, in the color green.

All this to say the Thyroid is the Divine Mean point of the endocrine system. It is where heaven touches earth, where the infinite realm of spirit divine touches into the finite realm of the human form. It is where spirit takes on flesh and continues to imbue it with Life.

THYROID HORMONES

The hormonal secretions of the Thyroid and their functions are varied and involve stimulating hormones (TSH) produced in the Pituitary gland. From the Pituitary, the Thyroid receives thyrotrophin, a hormone precursor that enables the production of thyroid hormonal secretions, such as thyroxine and calcitonin.   Thyroxine affects the growth rate and metabolism of all the body cells.  Calcitonin assists the parathyroid hormones and Vitamin D in lowering blood-calcium levels by enhancing cellular uptake, kidney function, and bone formation.  The mineral iodine plays a functional role as well in many organic and glandular processes regulated by the Thyroid gland, including the metabolism of calcium, the rate and rhythm of the heart beat, and the uptake of water by the kidneys, just to name a few well-known functions regulated by the Thyroid.

The liver plays an important role here as well.   The Thyroid gland makes the T3 hormone out of thyronine—the inactive hormone of the Thyroid stored in the liver—at a proportion of twenty percent, and thyroxine, T4—the active hormone of the Thyroid—at the proportion of eighty percent.  The storage form is converted into an active form in the liver, so it is important that the liver be functioning up to par for optimal thyroid hormone production and action in the body-tissues.

Life charges the cells of the body with vibrancy—the bones to be strong with calcium,  the heart muscles to pump blood rhythmically through the body, the brain for clear and calm thinking, the kidneys to pick up excess fluids and cleanse the blood stream of toxic waste, such as uric acid and other impurities and toxins.  Besides regulating metabolism and growth, thyroxine increases oxidation, promotes protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism for energy, and influences the regulation of body temperature.  In a word, the Thyroid hormones bring radiance to the body temple.   (Excerpted from my book Sacred Anatomy)

In my next post in this series we will look at the purifying function of the Thymus gland, the brain of the immune system. So stay tuned.  Until then, here’s to your health and healing.

Seven Glands for Seven Spirits, Part 2: The Womb of the Pituitary Gland

Life flows from above, down, inside, out, like this cool, clear mountain stream.

[Error Correction:  I made an error in my last post about whales.  The pineal gland in whales is smaller in those that live at or close to the equator and larger in those that live at or farther from the warm climate of the equator and nearer the two poles where the climate is colder and more challenging. I had it backwards, and I’ve made the correction in the post itself.  Sorry about that.  Actually, this is so with all animals. The reason for this has less to do with navigation and more to do with adaptation to climate.  The pineal gland seems to adjust the physiology of organisms to their environment.  “The timing of physiological events is very critical to the health and propagation of a species,” explains Dr. Jacob Liberman in Light: Medicine of the Future.] ______________________________________________________________

Pituitary Gland in the Sella Tursica

THE PITUITARY GLAND

Underneath the brain is a saddle-shaped depression in the sphenoid bone called the Sella Tursica. The sphenoid is a large bone appearing in shape like a bat in flight forming the base of the skull and connecting all the bones of the cranium together. Here the Pituitary gland (hypophysis) rests protected in her bony saddle, much as a queen upon her throne exercising loving but firm dominion over her kingdom. In size and shape similar to that of a green pea, the Pituitary’s domain is the entire endocrine system and the overall production of hormones throughout the body. It accomplishes all of this with the coordinating assistance of the Hypothalamus. For this reason it has earned the distinguished title of the “Master Gland.”

The Pituitary encompasses both masculine and the feminine functions. Comprised of two lobes, anterior and posterior, this gland is suspended by a stalk attached to the Hypothalamus at the base of the brain, from which it receives decision-making commands regarding its own hormonal secretions. These commands are based on information about what’s going on in the body temple as well as in the surrounding circumstances. That information is received through the eyes by way of light, as well as through the other physical, mental and emotional senses.

The anterior lobe of the Pituitary (adenohypophysis) secretes most of the Pituitary hormones which stimulate growth, egg and sperm development, milk secretion, as well as determining the hormonal secretions of the thyroid, adrenal and gonadal glands and affects the growth of long bones, muscles and internal organs, all functions of the achieving masculine.

The posterior lobe (neurohypophysis) stores and releases hormones from the hypothalamus that control Pituitary function, uterine contraction and milk release and blood pressure. It is concerned more with the mammary glands, stimulating the production of milk through the hormone prolactin, for example, and the kidneys by regulating the secretion of urine and body fluid levels in general, all functions of the nurturing feminine.

There are many functions in the body temple which this tiny but pivotal gland services. One of its most important ones is the production of growth hormones that regulate the cellular absorption of nutrients to control their development. . . .             From Sacred Anatomy.

SPIRIT OF THE WOMB

Here’s the second verse of my poem, The Seven Spirits of Love:

I am the Spirit of the Womb

I provide containment and wisdom for the Spirit of Love

I am open to the Father to receive,

conceive, nurture and give birth to the seeds of Love

I mother the life of my world.

The gift of the Spirit of the Womb is wisdom—the sense of what is fitting and what is not—and the Pituitary Gland really is the womb for the birth of life in the body temple, a role played by the Earth in our Solar Entity.  “Mother Earth” she is called.  Life in the body temple is constantly being seeded, conceived, nurtured and born in and through the Pituitary gland.  Its hormonal secretions carry that vital energy throughout the body temple.

One of the functions of the womb is to provide containment for the developing embryo so the spirit of love can work its magic through firm but gentle patterns of design and control building the body temple that will house a creator being, an angel, during his or her earthly journey.  Man was created and placed on planet Earth to provide the means by which the divine design and governance of love could be extended to the material world and all of the life forms in the realm of creation.  That’s what mothering is all about and Man’s role with Mother Earth is that of motherhood.

Now, we tend to attribute, and even limit, the role of motherhood to women, but men also play that role when it comes to conceiving, nurturing and birthing life and living forms in the “Garden of Eden.”  Now, I know the Bible says that the man and the woman were driven from Eden because they “ate of the forbidden fruit.” An entertaining story, but who knows what really happened back then?  Even Moses, who is believed to have written the Book of Genesis, wasn’t there.  Or was he?  Were we?  What Genesis does say clearly is that Man is both male and female. “So God created Man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created He them.”  (Genesis 1:27, emphasis mine).  I  take that as indicating the word “man” is not only masculine but feminine as well. And he was created on the sixth day according to the Creation story in Genesis. It’s no coincidence that the Pituitary gland is the sixth gland of the endocrine system counting from the bottom up.

Here, indeed, is where divine Man was created and placed by the LORD God on the sixth day of creation. Not the mortal man we know today but divine Man, a state of Immortal Being which we have long forgotten but are beginning to re-member, not only in theory but in actual experience.

“The first divine man . . . was created on the sixth day; that is, on the sixth plane of world being, where union takes place and the change from negative to positive is consummated. Divine man was to have dominion over all the earth, and everything on the earth.”  (Uranda, The Triune Ray)                                                                                       __Excerpted from Sacred Anatomy

(Note: I will capitalize the “M” in Man to signify the singular and  united duality.  When I speak of a man and a woman I am signaling them out according to sexual orientation and their roles.)

Man, male and female, provides the womb for the incarnation, birth, and dwelling of God on Earth.  Now, that’s an awesome role for Man to play.  It could be said that the tabernacle of God is with Man.  This is so in a physical sense, but also in a spiritual sense.

In the physical realm, the womb for the conception and birth of Man into the world is with the female body.  Woman bears the singular responsibility for providing a womb for the creation of the human form, and into that embryonic form a God Being incarnates. This is a privileged role for the women to play, not to mention an awesome experience, one that I as a man can only imagine.  Men, of course, play an important role in this process, and not merely in a biological and genetic sense.  After all, men, traditionally, provide for the care and protection of women.  Now, I know that this model is fast becoming archaic in the modern world, but it’s not entirely obsolete, especially in the traditional family model where the man protects his woman from harm and provides for her care and well being, a role he has historically misconstrued as possessive ownership.  We see this in the animal kingdom as well, which accurately mirrors the attitudes and behaviors of the crowning creation—(that sap we call “homo sapiens.” :-()

In this sense it could be said that the tabernacle of God is with men.  In other words, women are with men. This is how it was in the beginning when God created Eve out of a rib taken from Adam’s side.  “And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.”  (Gen. 2:22)   Now, there’s an interesting metaphor for speculation, which I won’t attempt to fully venture into now.  If suffices to say that the feminine aspect of Man came out of the side of Adam, whatever Moses implied by this description of the creation of Eve.  As a metaphor, we can see this pointing to Man’s heart and feeling realm, which is located in his rib cage and on his left side, thought of as where our feminine energies originate and reside.

Vesica Pisces

In the spiritual realm, the tabernacle of God could be said to be a vibrational vesica, a womb and birthing portal occasioned by the overlapping masculine and feminine energy fields—or the marriage between human and divine consciousness,  between Man and God— creating a unified field for the purpose of bringing forth life forms out of consciousness (heaven) and into the earth.  In other words, men and women—or Man and Creator—together as partners in accord providing with their love a heavenly womb-like atmosphere for the presence and creativity of God on Earth.  In Biblical terms, a “Garden planted eastward in Eden.”

“Eastward” indicates the future.  Our tomorrows come out of the East, and man was placed in Eden to tend this garden planted Eastward in Eden.  Well, that’s what we’re supposed to be about, and, when you stop to think about it, it is exactly what we have been about since our “Fall from Grace.”  We’ve been tending the garden alright, only we haven’t been keeping it very heavenly.  Man has separated his consciousness (the garden of Eden) from divine consciousness (God’s Heaven) and planted weed seeds of greed and deception in his garden—and both sexes have participated in this sowing.  Instead of an Edenic state, we have rather created a hell on Earth.  And if we examine the culture that is maintaining this hell, it is seeded, fermented and brewed by men and women working at odds with one another in a competitive endeavor to shape a future that will please, and at least equally benefit, their own isolated, and insulated, male and female egos.

The human ego needs to bow out and let Man return to re-create Eden on Earth.  It’s past time.  A new world, a “Golden Age,” awaits Man’s return to let it be born, and it will require men and women working in partnership with one another to make this happen.  It will require letting go of our defensive insulation and allowing ourselves to open up to one another in a vulnerable state of honesty and love for one another as equals in the eyes of God, for we are loved equally and unconditionally by our Creator.

Can you imagine what life on Earth would be like if men and women started getting along with one another, stopped competing with one another for equal power and control, and simply loved one another and enjoyed the privileged role we play as the Mother of God on Earth? What ecstatic fun we could be having working, dancing and singing in the Garden of the New Heaven and the New Earth . . . with the LORD God walking with us and we with him.

I don’t envision a return to the traditional distorted patriarchal model.  Only to traditional values of respect, honor, collaboration and worship on Life as the Creator of all living things on Earth.  When men and women return to a shared love affair with Life, Eden will come back into view.  It never really went away.  It simply vanished from view when Man started looking down and worshiping his creation rather than his Creator.  Man simply needs to repent—literally turn around—and see that Eden, the Kingdom of Heaven, is right at hand.  He needs to remember his Creator “… in the days of thy youth … while the evil days come not, and thou shall say ‘I have no pleasure in them.'”  (Eccl. 12:1)   It seems the “evil days” are already upon us and we are finding no pleasure in them whatsoever.

The word “evil” can also be spelled and mean “evol.”   We are in crucial days of radical change, evolving to the next level of advanced creation for our species, and for all life forms on Earth. Let us re-member who we are—Man, male and female, made in the image and after the likeness of our Creator—so that we can fully embody the Spirit of the Womb and create a Home for God on Earth.

We will continue our meditation on Seven Spirits for Seven Glands next post. Until then,

Be love.  Be loved.

The Alternative to Drugs: Heal your Dis-ease

I turned 72 this weekend and don’t feel a day over 40.  Can’t do what I used to be able to do when I was 40.  But I can now do what I didn’t take time to do then, like read books and take long walks and afternoon naps . . . and write blogs.  I trust you will be moved to do something positive for your health reading this one.

We’ve been focusing on changing consciousness as an alternative to drugs.  Drugs, of course, do not lead one on a path to health.  They simply mask the symptoms of disease until you remiss or else die.  The alternative to disease is health and vitality —  of body, mind, and spirit.  The word “health” means whole, and the word vitality means alive (vita is Latin for life).  To heal, then, means to make whole and vital —  or, as the English would say,  “hale and hardy.”

The alternative to drugs is simply to heal the dis-ease that makes the medicine necessary. Make whole that part of yourself that is not at ease.  If it isn’t at ease, you can ask why?  That’s right, go ahead and ask your body why one of its parts is ill at ease. Then be quiet and listen for the answer.  It will come.  Your body knows everything about itself, and it cannot tell a lie.  But you need to be willing and prepared to hear the answer.

My experience with most is they are not willing to accept an answer that requires them to make changes in their lifestyle, or take steps outside of their comfort zone.  People come to me for a fix — a more natural one than drugs, but nevertheless a fix.  They have been programmed by medicine to believe there is a magic pill for every ill, and they transfer that programming over to alternative health care only to discover that more than one nutrient or herbal pill is needed to reverse the dis-ease process.

The problem with that kind of programming is that it’s a lie.  There’s not a pill for every ill, as one pill usually leads to another, and another.  There is a pill for every symptom, but not to cure every illness.  The only cure there is comes not from anything outside of ourselves but from within.  Heath begins within, as does dis-ease.  How healthy are YOU inside?

Oh yes, I know there are external factors, such as air pollution and toxic chemicals in our water and food, that are constantly assaulting our immune system and polluting our blood stream.  And we don’t have organic produce in the grocery stores, and if we do it doesn’t look very fresh and is terribly overpriced.  Unless, of course, you live in a city with a Whole Foods market or have a backyard garden or farmer’s market in your town.  Then you have no excuse.

But health is not only about what you eat, drink and breathe.  Health is more about how your body handles what you eat, drink and breathe.  A healthy body handles it well, or at least okay, with a little support.  An unhealthy body doesn’t do so well and needs a lot of support — or more like propping up so it doesn’t fall over.

You see, health is homeostasis.  Homeostasis is balance — balance between the chemicals in your body, and balance between you and your environment.  Have you ever walked a tight rope or a brick wall where you had to keep your balance by extending your arms?  It’s work, isn’t it?  It’s the same with health maintenance.  It’s work, especially if you’re starting from illness and working toward a cure and health.  You first have to establish balance right where you are, which is the only starting point. Health starts to kick in the moment you start balancing your lifestyle.  One has to get up out of sickbay, for example, take up one’s bed, and walk for a cure.

That can be taken literally or metaphorically.  One’s “bed” can be one’s state of consciousness and/or one’s circumstance in life one is laying around in waiting for someone or somethings to come along and make things better, like in the Biblical story of the impotent man at the pool of Bethesda who had been waiting some thirty-eight years for someone to lower him down into the pool as soon as the angel troubled the water.  The Master Jesus simply told him to change his consciousness and just get up and walk.

A comic strip from Mad Magazine my son sent me some years back comes to mind.  It depicts a crowd of cripples waiting to cross a busy street in Lourdes on their way from a dip in the healing waters.  The pedestrian traffic light suddenly flashes “WALK” and everyone throws down their crutches and walks across the street shouting for joy.  But that’s about consciousness, isn’t it?

So let’s talk about your state of consciousness first.  That’s about perspective and belief, how you view yourself, your world and life in general, along with what you believe to be true and false, good and bad, possible and impossible.  Do you believe more in disease and death than in health and life?  Is death more certain to you than life? They say there are only two things certain in life: death and taxes.  Do you believe that you and everyone else will one day die?  In your view, is disease and death inevitable?  If so, then that will be your experience.  But I tell you that death is not natural and was never intended to be part of life in the beginning when the perfect design for man and woman was made manifest in the flesh.

What about yourself?  Do you believe you are mortal, imperfect, weak and “only human” and therefore prone to mistakes and failure?  Do you believe in the “germ theory,” or the “gene theory” that say tiny bacteria outside of you and microscopic molecules inside of you pre-determine your life on earth and stand between you and health and vitality?  Do you believe in your doctor and his medicine?  How do you know that your medicine is nothing more than a sugar pill.

(Now, don’t be suspicious of or mistrusting in your doctor, because sugar pills are proving to be as effective, if not more effective, than the drugs being tested, an unexpected – and unwelcome – outcome that has thrown a monkey wrench into pharmaceutical labs everywhere.  The moral in this story is: BELIEVE in your doctor and his medicine because it’s your belief that will heal your dis-ease and not the drug or the sugar pill . . . and when you wake up to that reality, you will know the truth, and you will no longer need your belief, because you will be free! Free of your limiting belief, for one thing, that a pill has the power to heal your body. You learn to believe in yourself and your body’s healing capacity.  To believe means to be willing.)

Good stuff, isn’t it? The human race is waking up to how things really work.  We are more powerful in determining our health than the most powerful “wonder drugs” when we see how easily they can be out-performed by a harmless sugar pill . . . or by something as elusive as one’s belief.  Does that not give you pause . . . and cause to change your consciousness?

Now, let’s take your circumstance.  Does your circumstance loom large and insurmountable?  Are you afraid of your environment?  By your perception, is the world a dangerous place to live?  Are you afraid your body will fail you in some way and that your health is a gamble?  Are you comfortable in your own skin or do you wish you were in some else’s skin and circumstance?  Do your finances dominate your life?  Does the economy determine your sense of security?  Do you fear that you, or we, will run out of money, or food, or water?  Are you afraid of losing your job or your home?  That’s a tough one to handle.  Fear of losing your health is another.   Fear, period, is a tough feeling to overcome, because it’s so self-defeating.  It can keep one from standing up for fear of falling back down.  Are you afraid of letting go of drugs?  Are you living in a survival mode all the time?  Does your life and well-being depend on your environment?

These are all questions that reveal us to ourselves, speak to our sense of self, make us look at how dependent we are on others and on our circumstances for our very survival. Only the fittest survive this world, and then only for a season.  Who does survive is the one who creates his or her world and takes full responsibility for it.  Are you a creator or a  creature?   Creatures come and go.  Creators are never born and never die.  We spend eternity creating worlds in which to live and enjoy caring for them.  Which are you?

You can see how much our perceptions and beliefs can determine our health and the quality of our lives.  That is, if we allow them to control.  We can change our consciousness and gain new perspectives that will allow us to see beyond our beliefs to possibilities of a life without fear and lack, without beliefs altogether, a life that is free of beliefs because we know the truth.  And the truth is, you are immortal.  No, not your human body and ego.  They are currently mortal . . . but they are not who you ARE.   YOU are an immortal being who will never die and cannot ever be sick.  YOU are rich with abundance.  YOU determine your life experience because YOU create it, moment by moment and day by day.  No, not your human ego, although it has played a manipulative role in fabricating a lifestyle of its own to make it feel secure, comfortable and important, but YOU, nameless and formless YOU, the only One who is capable of rising, taking up your bed, and walking.

How much impact do you think this level and quality of conscious thinking will have on your health and on your life?  Unless we start thinking in our hearts about living immortal lives here on earth we will never find out.  We do know how our past and present thinking impacts our health and our lives now.  Why not think the unthinkable, the “impossible,” and make it believable and possible, if not for ourselves then for our children and our children’s children.  The shift starts in consciousness . . . my consciousness.

YOU are the cure of your’s body’s and mind’s dis-ease.  And when you heal the gap in your consciousness of separation between immortal YOU and your mortal capacity that allows you to live and function on the material plane of this planet, this universe, you heal your one and only dis-ease, the dis-ease of not knowing who you are and living a life of disconnection from Source, from God, or by whatever name you want to call the Giver of Life.

That which separates also connects.  The moment you remember who you really and truly are, YOU are healed.  You heal the connection between your inner Self and your outer self. You are now whole.  From then on it’s just a matter of keeping your balance between the two worlds: the invisible world of spirit and the visible world of form.   In that state of balance you gain a new perspective that lets you see they are actually one.  Health is living in the place of oneness of heaven and earth.  From heaven, you see a world of abundance in the earth.  Nothing is impossible.  Or, to put it in a more positive light, all things you set your heart on are possible.  For, as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

Want to lose weight?  Think it in your heart.  Want to heal your dis-ease?  Think it in your heart.  Want to change your lifestyle? Think it in your heart.  Want these things with all of your heart, so much so as to become them.  Otherwise you can’t have them.  They won’t come to you.  You have to love them to draw them to yourself.  And don’t be afraid of loosing your crutch and falling down.  It was said that perfect love casts out fear. You have to love being healthy in order to cure your dis-ease.  And you have to love doing what it takes to get there.  Otherwise, forget about it.  There’s no magic pill for passivity and lethargy.  You have to rise up in yourself, and as your Self, take up your bed, and walk.  Be still and know that you can do it.

To your health and healing,

Dr. Tony Palombo

Healing Magic of Attunement

In all my fifty years as a physician, I have not found anything more magical than attunement.  I could spend hours holding a focused current of love over the crown chakra and the pineal gland. Sometimes this is all I do for fifteen to twenty  minutes while sharing attunement with someone long-distance.  I simply bring the fingers of my right hand together to focus a current over the tip of my left thumb as though my thumb were the head of the person.  I have found long-distance attunement to be powerfully intense and fruitful in terms of healing and transformation, perhaps even more so than when the person is present physically.Touching into one’s energetic field and core essence in this way is a very sacred and profoundly healing experience.

I speak of these two aspects of our being as though they were separate.  In reality they are as one as the sunshine is with its source in the sun and the rainbow is with the white ray of sunshine. . . and, but for an occasionally cloudy day, there would always be sunshine and rainbows to brighten our days.   Inevitably, sunshine and rainbows return as the warmth of the sun evaporates the cold, damp air of the clouds.

In a way, that’s what health and disease are, clear and cloudy days within our body-mind and heart.  Attunement brings on the sunshine of love to encompass and enfold the body-mind and heart in an atmosphere of light. . . and more.   The focused current of love that moves during an attunement session resonates at the very core of the individuals sharing attunement,  amplifying the spiritual frequency of that core essence.  It is this intensification of the core current of love within that is the Source of the attunement blessing and healing, as all healing comes from within.

We’ve put up a couple of yard signs at the entrance to our health center here in Lake Charles that read: Health. . . Begins Inside. So does disease.  And, just like clouds, disease is transformed by the warmth of love and the flow of life through the body.  All one has to do is dissipate the clouds of discontentment, fear, resentment, guilt and shame that bring on the rains of complaint, criticism and judgement that create dissonance in the body-mind and heart.  Love only will accomplish that with its rainbow frequencies of thankfulness, patience, forgiveness, compassion, understanding, joy, appreciation, and kindness to ourselves and others.

Living in attunement with love is easy.  Existing under the cloud of discontentment disconnected from love is difficult.  That’s why we have so many difficulties in life.  If you find yourself unable to dissipate your mental and emotional clouds and shake off physical pain and illness, simply remember who you are, a sunbeam of love, throw your shoulders back and smile.  Then break out in hearty laughter at how silly you’ve allowed yourself to be worrying and fussing about trivial things that really don’t matter nearly as much as your health and happiness, life itself.  Attune your heart to the sweet and strong vibration of love.  And if you need help doing that, call me for a long-distance attunement session.  If you’re in the area, come in for an attunement with sound.  Talk about magical!  Attunement with the harmonious sounds of quartz crystal and Tibetan singing bowls is deeply and profoundly healing, and I love sharing such attunements more than anything else I offer as  a holistic healer.

Health is all about coherence, harmony.  Introducing a coherent energy into a dissonant field immediately dispels the dissonance and restores harmony.  And that’s all you have to remember. A wise man once wrote:

We never know how far reaching something we may think, say or do today will affect the lives of millions tomorrow.  It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” (Elbert Hubbard).

That’s because light is coherent coming as it does from Source.  Darkness is nothing but the absence of light.  Likewise, disease is nothing but the absence of health.  Attunement opens a door inside the heart for the outpouring of abundant life, and with abundant life comes health, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.  Health begins inside.

Alternative to Drugs: Change in Perception and Consciousness, Part 2, Healing the Body-mind

As I stated in the last post, we can’t address mental health without considering physical health, since the mind arises out of the body.  Conversely, we can’t really address the causes and conditions underlying physical heath without considering mental health.  Further, we can’t address mental and physical health without including and addressing emotional health. The three simply exist together as a whole, an energetic continuum.

If we look even deeper in our search for cause, we can’t address health issues that arise in the outer man without considering the health of the inner man, spiritual health.  The outer man is but an extension of the inner man.  Now, the inner spirit is perfect, whole and healthy.  If the outer man does not reflect the inner perfection, wholeness and health of the inner man, the spirit, then there’s a reason for this failure.  The obvious reason is that the inner spiritual man is not able to get through to the outer material man.  The reflection is either distorted or not there at all.  This seems simple enough, doesn’t it?  But, then, the truth is simple.

The rationale of any worthy healthcare service would, therefore, be to assist the individual inflicted with disease in removing the interference between the inner spirit and its perfect manifestation in and through the whole outer man.  It would be, in other words, a wholistic approach.

This is why alternative healthcare is often described as “wholistic,” or “holistic,” as it is often spelled.  The whole person is taken into account when searching for the cause of illness and putting together a protocol for treatment.  In this post, I will offer some practical solutions along with a few  natural, holistic approaches I’ve used in my practice of 49 years, as well as some that I’m aware of in the alternative healthcare field.

ALTERNATIVE HEALTHCARE GROWING EXPONENTIALLY

In the video of a conversation between Drs. Rupert Sheldrake and Bruce Lipton I posted in my current Healing Tones blog — and which I’m posting again here below because it contributes so much to our understanding of ourselves in the context of the new paradigm emerging — Dr. Lipton makes the observation that we have now past the 50% mark in this country of the numbers of those who seek alternative healthcare before going to a medical doctor.  I find that most encouraging, and I feel it incumbent upon me to continue making a contribution into the process of transformation in consciousness underway and moving forward at an exponential rate.

THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND CONTROLS OUR BEHAVIOR

At the end of the video, Dr. Lipton makes a very important statement about the influence of sub-conscious programming upon our behavior.  He states that 95% of our behavior is controlled by our subconscious minds while only 5% of our actions are consciously directed.  That’s a bit scary.  Basically, we are walking around in a state of post-hypnotic suggestion where triggers in our environment push buttons in our psyche that turn on tapes in our subconscious minds that play out in our behavior and outbursts of suppressed emotionally charged energy.

As an example of this, he explains how illness can be induced in our physical body by subconscious memories from childhood of how when we got sick we received lots of love and attention we didn’t get when we were well.  So, in order to get the love and attention we deeply crave now as adults, we may subconsciously set about getting sick — physically and mentally, as well as emotionally.

So, I just wanted to bring this dynamic into the picture as we explore some of the natural healthcare solutions, always keeping in mind that while we may ease the symptoms of illness and balance body and brain chemistry with nutrition and herbs, the underlying cause remains untreated until we address the memories of past trauma and synchronize body and brain with present time conditions where there are no threats to fear and fight or to run away from.

NATURAL HOLISTIC SOLUTIONS

1. Bio-Energetic-Synchronization Technique (BEST) was developed by Dr. Milton T. Morter of Rogers, Arkansas.  Dr. Morter is a chiropractor, researcher and developer, teacher, biologist and author of several books on health and consciousness.  His work is a seminal contribution to the field of holistic health care.  BEST practitioners are usually chiropractors who are trained and certified in this technique.

In just a few words, BEST is a non-invasive healing modality that accesses subconscious memories of past trauma that influence current behavior and underlie patterns of disease in the body-mind continuum.  It includes a means of communicating with the innate intelligence of the body, using kinesiology (muscle testing — which Dr. Lipton explains toward the end of the video clip) to ascertain information that helps guide the practitioner in a process of finding and then “erasing” the memory ingram where the traumatic experience is filed away in the subconscious.

With BEST we can now erase past memories from the subconscious mind that are keeping a person in chronic stress mode of fight or flight and desensitize “buttons” in the psyche that trigger habitual emotional reactions to environmental stimuli.

Muscles remember trauma and can become locked in defensive physiology caused by sympathetic dominance.  BEST can erase those memories and restore timing and synchronization between brain signals and muscle contraction and relaxation to take them out of fight or flight mode.  When muscles of the back are so released from tension, the spinal bones to which they are attached and pulled out of alignment are able to return to their proper alignment without being forced to do so by manipulation, a discovery that was met with strong resistance by the powers that be in the chiropractic profession.

As Dr. Morter describes it, we can remove the “necessity for disease,” as disease is nothing more than a necessary adaptation to a deeper aberration in the energetic field.  Healing the aberrations in the energetic field removes the necessity for the adaptation and, therefore, the manifestation of symptoms.  The symptoms of disease remiss when the blockages in the subconscious mind are removed.

THE PROMISE OF CHIROPRACTIC

This is the fundamental principle underlying the philosophy and science of chiropractic and the rationale for the spinal adjustment, which is to remove nerve interference to the flow of intelligence between the brain and the body so that the body can heal itself, as the founder of chiropractic, Daniel David Palmer, envisioned and proved out clinically over a hundred years ago, and his son, Bartlett Joshua Palmer (“BJ”) further explored and developed into a professional science, philosophy and healing art.

Chiropractic brought to the world a great promise that spearheaded the emergence of alternative healthcare.  That promise was in BJ’s “Big Idea,” whose time had come, that “The power that made the body can heal the body” and his “Law of life” which stated that healing comes from “above, down, inside, out.”  Unfortunately, Palmer’s original philosophy gradually got watered down by a profession that failed to “get the Big Idea” and chiropractic devolved into a physical manipulative modality for relieving back aches and other musculoskeletal disorders.  But its purpose had been served as alternative health care was given birth into the healthcare arena, which was already medically dominated and monopolized by the drug-based, diseased oriented, so-called “healthcare industry.”  Chiropractic brought health-oriented consciousness to the fore of alternative health care thinking.

2. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) was founded by Dr. Gary Craig, who developed it into a practical methodology for emotional healing with fellow psychotherapists Drs. David Feinstein and Donna Evans.  Their work is presented and detailed in The Promise of Energy Psychology – Revolutionary Tools for Dramatic Personal Change.

Basically, EFT involves a sequential “tapping” of specific energy meridians in the face, upper torso and hands that are connected to neurological pathways in the brain.  You tap with the finger tips while repeating a mantra articulating the issue being addressed and an affirmation of deep love and appreciation for oneself.  For example, “Even though I’m afraid of heights, I deeply and completely love and appreciate myself.”  This plants into the subconscious mind a positive statement that will override negative feeling-reactions to situations in life, such as fear of heights, or even a physical conditions, such as obesity. For example, “Even though my body is overweight I deeply and completely love and appreciate myself.”  There are psychotherapists who use this technique to give their clients something they can do between visits when issues arise, and it really does work in disarming triggers by “unwiring” emotional buttons.

You’ll have to purchase the book in order to study and learn the simple “basic recipe” for tapping.  The book is worth its weight in gold for anyone having trouble managing emotions . . . but not just for emotional management and overcoming phobias. EFT works for physical conditions, such as chronic illnesses, like diabetes and arthritis, because it accesses and affects transformation of underlying emotional causes of disease. For example, “Even though I have diabetes/arthritis/heart disease/asthma/etc, I deeply and completely love and appreciate my body with its limitations.

EFT works for transforming one’s self-image and redirecting emotional energies toward creative enterprises.  It works in clearing addictions of all kinds.  I can’t think of any situation or condition where EFT would not be helpful in setting emotional energies free from suppression by old and limiting beliefs and inhibiting patterns of thought.  I highly recommend the book.

3. Trophotherapy — the science of balancing blood and body chemistry with nutrition, specifically by the ingestion of high concentrations of whole-food nutrients.  This approach often includes a form of reading the body’s nutritional profile and needs through kinesiology — muscle testing specific points in the energetic meridians of the body to ascertain information the body’s innate intelligence is willing to share about its biological, physiological and anatomical health status and remedial needs.  Contact Reflex Analysis (CRA) and Quantum Reflex Analysis (QRA) are two popular methods of this science and art.

For example, the brain has a “master reflex” point above the forehead at the hairline.  If this reflex point is “active,” it indicates the brain is in need of nutritional support.  The practitioner then proceeds to test other points to try and determine what is causing the brain’s weakness.  Sometimes it’s simply a need for vitamins and minerals, in which case placing a bottle of CATALYN (by Standard Process Labs) in the field of the person being tested will make the reflex point strong again, indicating that this multiple vitamin and mineral wholefood supplement will feed the brain and make it healthy and strong again.  I have often found that the brain is simply starving to death.

OMEGA 3 FISH OIL ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL

The brain is made of fat, cholesterol.  So feed it fat.  Good fat, that is, and not the Omega 6 peanut oils used in commercially fried foods, most of which are overheated and rancid, nor saturated fats in beef and pork.  Butter is a good fat, but not margarine.  Margarine is hydroginated oil and is rancid.  Rancid oil destroys “good” cholesterol (HDL) and tissue cells upon contact.  People who take Statin drugs are hurting their livers and brains by preventing the liver from making cholesterol. The liver makes 85% of the cholesterol needed by every cell in the body, especially hormones, which are made of cholesterol, and brain cells.

HERBS FOR BRAIN ENERGY & MEMORY

To boost brain energy, one can use herbs like Ginkgo Biloba. To enhance memory retention, Bacopa Complex (by Medi Herb).  To enhance memory recall, Ginkgo Forte (MH). I’ve had students take these herbs with astounding results: Bacopa during lectures and study hours, and Ginkgo before and during exams.  They work great!

ADD & ADHD (click on it to see my blog post on the subject)

The problem with ADD is one of focus and concentration.  I’ve treated many children with ADD over the years and all of them responded favorably to inositol supplementation, often the next day.  They were able to get off Ritalin.  They were able to focus and concentrate on their lessons.

The brain’s primary fuel is sugar in the form of inositol, which facilitates the transmission of electrical energy and signals between cell membranes.  This sugar is made in the liver from glucose.  Eating too much dietary sugar can compromise the production of inositol.  That’s why kids who eat too much sugar don’t produce enough inositol for the brain.  The brain doesn’t even have the energy to shut down at night.  It runs all night and throughout the day.  This is what ADD and ADHD are all about. They need to get off the sugar and take Inositol, along with Catalyn, Min-Tran, and Tuna Omega 3 Oil (SP).  Email me for dosages.  Inositol is also known to help with depression.

BALANCE MALE AND FEMALE HORMONES TO BALANCE BRAIN CHEMISTRY

Hormonal support is essential in balancing brain chemistry.  First, we need to support the hypothalamus, the stress-response center at the base of the brain.  Next, we need to support the pituitary gland, the master gland of the endocrine system.  Then we need to support the adrenal glands, as every cell in the body and brain needs adrenalin to function. This is called the HPA Axis. Email me for a protocol and to obtain products.

I hope you have learned something about your brain and mind in these last few blog posts.  I welcome your comments and inquiries.  In my next blog post, we will go beyond the outer terrain of physical, mental and emotional health issues and remedies to consider a very special healing service called “attunement” which addresses the healing of the connection between the inner spiritual man and the outer form created specifically for its perfect manifestation.  Until then,

To your health and healing,

The Healing Process: Immune Response and the Redox Signaling Molecule

Wholeness Is – All Things are Connected

The Healing Process is as much an unfolding and revelation of what is already whole and holy, namely Life, as it is a mending to make whole what has become partial, fragmented and isolated from the whole, if only in consciousness and in perception.  The reality is oneness.  All things are connected and cannot be otherwise disconnected, anymore than ripples on the surface of a pond created by two or more pebbles thrown in separate places into the pond can be separated.  The ripples can be seen as vibrational waves connecting all forms of life afloat in cosmic space.  “Pluck a flower and disturb a star.”

Life is Spirit and Spirit is present everywhere as the Presence of Love.  Love is all and all is love, and the essence of Love is Oneness.  Therefore, as we give consideration to the human immune system, I would invite you to begin by seeing all of Life as ONE and as the manifestation and action of Love . . . and Love does not attack Love.

In the medical model of the immune system, as you are about to see in these next video clips, as well as in the passage from Dr. Gary Samuelson’s booklet The Science of Healing Revealed – New Insights into Redox Signaling, Life’s intricate parts are pitted against one another in a battle over the flesh-and-blood terrain of the whole organism of our physical bodies.  Pathogens are characterized as “invaders” while anti-bodies as “killer cells” bent on destroying the invaders as “enemies” to the self whom they serve at all costs.  This is all part of the drama Louis Pasteur’s germ theory has given rise to in the paranoid and morbid imagination of human hearts and minds.  This mind-set has only weakened our natural immunity by instilling fear in our hearts.  Fear shuts down our immune system.

In reality, there is nothing to fear, as nothing is “wrong.”  Everything matters.  Pathogens have as much right to existence as human beings.  They are part of the Creative Process in which they play an essential role.  What, for instance, would happen to cadavers if pathogens didn’t break them down and return them to the dust from which they were formed?  That’s their job, and if they find sick and dying cells while passing through our bodies, it is their job to take them out and scavenge the debris. They would not do so if they found no sick and dying cells, an unlikely occasion considering the oxidative stress under which our body-cells exist and operate on a daily basis.  It’s the law of the survival of the fittest at work that is operative throughout the natural world.

So, keep this in mind as we take a look at how the immune system deals with non-self visitors through the eyes of traditional medicine with its “germ-theory” mind-set that has dominated our consciousness during the last century, a mind-set that forms the basis of our so-called “healthcare system” today, which would be more accurately called a “disease management” system. Enjoy and be enlightened by what follows, remembering to see it all from a larger perspective of the Whole.

Video links:  “T” Cells and the Immune System       White Blood Cells at Work     Clonal Selection during strep infection

Comment on the video clips: Medical overlay aside, it is fascinating to see the infinite microcosm at work in such detail within our bodies, and it is all governed and directed by the law of resonance and attraction.  I see “T” cells and white blood cells, for instance, absorbing pathogens as “grist for the mill,” thereby reclaiming and incorporating their substance and energy back into the functional whole, transforming and transmuting them in the process.  Perhaps “T” cells would more accurately be called “Transmuting cells” rather then “killer cells.” Keeping this perspective in mind, let’s see what Dr. Samuelson has to say about the immune system and the Redox Signaling Molecule.

Immune System’s Response to a Threat

The immune system in higher vertebrates is complex and highlydeveloped and yet it is built around principles that exist in even the most primitive species and plants (plants really do have an immune system). The innate immune response in plants and in lower and higher animals depends on a redox signaling process (messengers of distress) to help the organism identify and destroy its enemies. The principle is simple: if anything foreign causes enough damage to result in acute oxidative stress, as explained, then it is an enemy.

It is convenient that the redox messengers (the oxidants that signal that damage has occurred) are also the most potent oxidative ammunition available with which to load the cannons and kill the enemy. The presence of all these harmful oxidants, though, requires that these forms of life produce a complement of antioxidants with the ability to neutralize any stray oxidants before they can cause damage to the organism itself. The antioxidants found in plants, by the way, are not necessarily the same as those used in higher life forms. Eating a berry that has plant antioxidants will not generally supplement the native antioxidants utilized inside your cells. Plant antioxidants, however, can be helpful as they can make it into your blood and help reduce the stray oxidants there. Note that some antioxidants, such as vitamin-C, are indeed able to be absorbed by tissues.

In humans and higher vertebrates, there are a variety of antioxidants and “clean-up-crew” enzymes that clean up the toxic mess once the battle is over. In these higher animals, there also exists an intricate adaptive immune system that can use the remaining scraps from the battle to identify, tag, and keep a list of harmful foreign invaders. This allows a quicker and more specific immune response, overall, and thus a higher survival rate. One drawback of this improved immune system, none-the-less, is that friendly and inert objects can mistakenly be identified as enemies.

One powerful advantage that the redox signaling system offers is aclear identification that the battle has been won. When the oxidative stress condition subsides, it is a sign that the battle is over and is a signal to start rebuilding. In the process of regenerating the lost tissues, these redox-induced messengers are used again to help the newly forming tissues signal that they need oxygen and nutrients. These messengers then spur on the vascular growth needed to feed these new tissues.  The healing process is beautifully simple in principle and amazingly complex in its application. Cells must be able to identify when they are in distress and then call up the appropriate action to correct the situation. Stress leads to imbalance which in turn leads to the action needed to reestablish balance. The ability to maintain balance is an essential ingredient of life.

Raspberries – Life’s perfection in an imperfect world

Of course, we do not live in a perfect world and our bodies are sometimes less than capable of handling the insults constantly being slung at them by our toxic mind-made world of chemicals, estrogenic plastics, and insecticides in our foods.  Knowing this perhaps, Mother Nature has provided us with perfect foods that have built-in immune-system support nutrients.  The humble red raspberry contains “ellagic acid” which is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-cancer, making it a natural anti-biotic.

Another anti-pathogen can be found within the seed of the grapefruit, put there, no doubt, by Mother Nature to protect the germ in the seed from destruction by fungi and other pathogens.  It’s a very bitter oil, as you know if you’ve ever bit into a grapefruit seed. The oil has been extracted and made available in various “citracidal” preparations, such as Triguard Plus ($15 plus postage).  It is anti bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-yeast and effective against some 27 different pathogens.  It is completely harmless to the body cells, just don’t get it in your eyes as it will burn.

Check out the links below for an enlightening presentation of the humble raspberry and of ellagic acid, also available in capsule form from the company who brings you these video clips.  Enjoy, and I’ll see you next blog post! Until then,Here’s to your health, healing and vitality!

The Healing Process: Role of the Redox Signaling Molecule

Redox Regulation of the Healing Process – New Science

We have come to the crux of our considerations around the Healing Process.  In this post we will see exactly how the healing process works and what players are involved.  Again, Dr. Gary Samuelson will tell the story in his own easy-to-read words.  We will start with two video clips: one of the process called “Covalent Bonding” and the other on how free radicals and antioxidants work in order to help us better understand how “free radicals” (oxidants) do their damage and how the antioxidants neutralize and disarm them by a simple exchange of electrons between “oxidants” (electron donors ) and “reductants” (electron acceptors).  At the end of the day, restoration of balance is the goal of the healing process, as we shall see, and the “villains” of the free radicals turn out to be essential players in the process of maintaining homeostasis.  This, I promise, will be a fascinating read.  Enjoy!  (Newcomers to my blog would enjoy reading the previous posts in this series on The Healing Process for background information.)

Redox Regulation of the Healing Processes-New Science

Emerging science from the past five years has solidly established that the chemical balance of small reactive redox messengers is essential to the healing process and the regulation of the immune system. These small reactive “redox” molecules participate in the same homeostatic balancing act that is used to balance the proper amount of the various proteins inside the cell (as we already have discussed). These redoxmessengers are constantly being produced, mostly by the mitochondria in the cells, and then constantly being eliminated at the same rate by a variety of protective enzymes (generally called antioxidants“) that are strategically stationed inside and outside of the cells.

Let us more closely examine these reactive “redoxmessengers for a minute. They are made from simple rearrangements of the atoms in H20, NaGI and N2 and are put together by special molecular complexes in the cell. Some examples of redox signaling molecules are H202, H02, HOCI and NO. About half of the redox messengers can be categorized as oxidantsand the other half, in fairness, can be categorized as “reductants.”  “Reductants” is a contrived nickname, the official name being energetic “electron acceptors.Oxidants, incidentally, can also be referred to as energetic “electron donors” in the same sense.

Not much is said about “Reductants” in the literature. In fact this nickname was just fashioned to be able to talk about this group of electron acceptors in this booklet. The basic concept, however, is very familiar to chemists and physicists. The laws of conservation of charge, mass and energy dictate that every time an oxidant is made from a neutral solution, a reductant or combination of reductants must concurrently be made to counterbalance it. The electron acceptors must balance out the electron donors. The ability of the resulting molecules to oxidize or reduce the molecules in their environment is referred to as the “redox” potential, a key player and motivator for all of the chemical reactions that take place in nature.

The name “redoxitself comes from the ability of these messengers to “REDuceand/or “OXidizemolecules in their environment. Reduction and oxidation are chemical terms that relate to the potential that the molecules have to “give away(oxidize) or accept(reduce) electrons to and from other molecules in their environment. As mentioned, all chemical reactions taking place in the cell depend on this redox potential in order to happen. Redox messengers have the ability to change the redox potential of their environment, thereby altering the chemical reactions that take place. Strong reductants and oxidants can both be harmful and destructive to the cell if they are allowed to wander around at will.

The oxidants, in particular, have made a really bad name for themselves; several of them are free radicals that have high energy, unpaired electrons that will blow apart whatever they come into contact with (like tiny molecular cannons). Oxidants will damage DNA, blow holes in cellular membranes, destroy important proteins, etc. The reductants are also hazardous, they will grab electrons away from molecules (with the ferocity of small molecular sharks), thereby causing destruction. To be perfectly clear, reductants are not antioxidants. Reductants are simply the chemical counterparts of oxidants (much like acids and bases). Antioxidants, on the other hand, are a class of much larger organic molecules produced by genetic coding that act as catalysts capable of facilitating the reverse chemical processes needed to ultimately untie” and neutralize both the oxidants and the reductants. Antioxidant cycles require both oxidants and reductants in order to work correctly.

Let us focus on the antioxidants for a minute. The antioxidants were historically considered as the heroes of the cell because they broke down the harmful oxidants by pulling them in and neutralizing them together with reductants, leaving just common harmless sea-water molecules in their wake. Over an antioxidant cycle (some of which are complex multi-step processes) the oxidants and reductants are neutralized [view clip], however the antioxidant itself remains unchanged, ready to do it all over again to the next set of oxidants and reductants. The antioxidant in this sense is a catalyst that speeds up the neutralization of oxidants with reductants and yet of itself remains unchanged. You can think of an antioxidant as a black box: reactive and potentially dangerous oxidants and reductants go into the box and harmless neutral sea-water molecules come out.

Ironically, the oxidants (that historically have been thought to be the villains) are now seen as central players to the healthy function of the cells. We have recently learned that we would not be able to live without either the reactive oxidants or the reductants. The truth be told, these tiny reactive molecules play an absolutely essential messenger role in our cells and tissues [my underscore]. The most critical aspect of healthy redox-messenger balance is in that the oxidants and reductants must be produced and eliminated in perfectly-balanced and equal portions. As long as there are equal portions of oxidants and reductants in the interior or exterior of the cell, the antioxidants can readily neutralize them both as fast as they are created. As discussed, the antioxidants need equal portions of oxidants and reductants in order to function, in the case of Glutathione (an abundant antioxidant made in our cells). The large mouth of the relatively huge antioxidant molecule lures in a reductant (that is electron hungryand then lures in an oxidant (that has an energetic electron to donate) and then pulls them both together into the “active site” in the middle. At the active site, the reductant and oxidant are combined together, neutralizing them both. The resulting harmless molecules float away.  The antioxidant is then free to do it all again. If there is an ample supply of reductants and oxidants in the neighborhood, one antioxidant molecule can typically neutralize tens of millions of oxidant molecules every second, as measured in the lab.  [Emphasis and underscores mine]

This was a eye-opener for me when I first read it, and I believe it is crucial to a better understanding of homeostasis.  There are no “good” and “bad” players in this microcosm of the biological universe that comprises our bodies.  There’s only “appropriate” and “inappropriate” based on place and timing, balance and imbalance.  To quote a poet friend and colleague, “Nothing is wrong.  Everything matters.”

The antioxidants are purposefully manufactured, sent to and positioned around the areas of the cell, such as the nucleus, that are vulnerable to oxidative damage. As equal portions of oxidants and reductants approach these protected areas, the antioxidants standing guard around these areas pull them in and neutralize them both. The antioxidants are thus able to keep these potentially harmful reactive molecules away from protected areas and corral and use them for their own best purposes. Consequently, the immune system uses large amounts of such oxidants, along with strong demolition enzymes, as its weapon of choice against harmful invading bacteria and viruses. The foreign invaders do not even stand a chance against these potent weapons. After the invaders have been torn apart and destroyed by the enzymes and oxidants, the surrounding antioxidants standing guard and other enzymes clean up the mess, toxins and hazards.

THE HEALING PROCESS DESCRIBED

The key to understanding how this redox balancing process helps the body heal itself comes when considering what happens when the cells become damaged or defective for some reason or another. There are thousands of different processes with thousands of different proteins taking place everywhere inside the cell. When something is not working right, how does the cell detect the damage? The answer lies in the fact that as the normal homeostatic balance that exists in healthy cells is disturbed, somewhere in the cell there is either a build-up or deficiency of the normal quantity of proteins. There is a high probability that this
grow
ing imbalance will at some point make the metabolism of sugars less efficient. When this happens, the redox-messenger production in the mitochondria becomes unbalanced, producing many more oxidants than reductants or vice versa. In other words, the damage will ultimately manifest itself as a buildup of oxidants or reductants. This condition is called “oxidative stress” and is a real phenomenon seen (under the microscope) to occur in almost all defective or stressed cells (in both animals and plants).

An imbalance in the redox messengers, usually manifesting itself as oxidative stress, sends a clear signal that damage has occurred somewhere and that the cell is defective. The excess oxidants are not balanced by reductants and cannot be effectively neutralized by antioxidants. These oxidants end up causing even more damage to other parts of the cell. This clear signal for help causes the DNA to code for the “fixit crew” and cytokine messengers that are sent out to alert the immune system. If this imbalance (oxidative stress condition) is not corrected by the attempts of the fixit crew, the oxidants continue to build up. Then after about two hours, the fatally damaged cell starts a “programmed cell suicide” cascade (apoptosis) that will end up with the cell killing and dismantling itself. This is not a bad thing. Normal healthy neighboring cells will then be able to divide in order to fill in the vacancy. On the microscopic scale, this is essentially the healing process. [my underscore]

The oxidative stress condition in a stressed or damaged cell also causes the DNA to code for messengers to be sent to neighboring cells, advising them of its condition. Redox messengers can also be used as these intercellular messengers. If the damaged cell, such as those found in tumors, is not able to kill itself, then its neighboring healthy cells will send back “death domain” messengers as well as distress messengers to the immune system that will either cause the damaged cell to die or to be attacked by the immune system. This system is regularly used to detect and destroy practically all of the damaged and dysfunctional cells in the body. Remember, it only takes one undetected dysfunctional cell, out of the trillions that are successfully detected and killed, to start seeding an abnormal growth.”

This brings our series to a turning point.  The posts that will follow will look at the role of the immune system in healing and how this system is activated by the Redox Signaling Molecules.   View this video clip to prepare for the next consideration.

Dying Healthfully

Death as Part of the Healing Process

Tony Pics for SA BookWe all come to this final moment in our lives.  Death, like taxes, is inevitable.  It’s a part of life. . .for now anyway.  Legends and Biblical texts tell of a time when death was not in the picture of  life on earth.   My life’s mission has been dedicated to the return to such a reality for all humanity, even if it’s just to hold it in my heart as a possibility, even as inevitable as death is now.

A friend of ours, and of many the world around, John Cruickshank, made his transition from this earthly plane yesterday evening.  It was a peaceful passing, what one could describe as  a “healthy death.”  Sounds like a paradox, doesn’t it?  Death, after all, is the complete absence of life, so how can it be healthy?  Or is death the complete absence of life?

I prefer the word “transition” we seem to be using more often these days, because, in reality, death is a movement from one level of being to another.  Birth, in that sense, is also a transition, one that we celebrate with much joy, as we are doing this afternoon at our grandson’s birthday party here in Ashland, Oregon.  Jonahven came to us through his mother Holly Adams and his father, our son John, and what a gift they are to each other.  Jonahven came from heaven into the earth, transcended the invisible realm of spirit to incarnate in the visible realm of form.  John Cruickshank transcended the visible world of form to return to his origin in the invisible world of a higher level of form.  There is form at every level appropriate to each level. Should not both transitions be celebrated with equal wonder and joy?!

Life has its irony.  We celebrate the joy of a child’s birth today and yesterday we celebrated the death of a friend with joy and thanksgiving for his full life of service.  John was truly a server to all he encountered in his earthly journey;  a selfless friend.   Notwithstanding an aggressive brain tumor, John’s death was a healthy one.  He was at peace in his heart, his earthly journey fulfilled and complete.  He died as he lived, sharing his life with others.   We who are left behind surely feel a loss.  He will be missed.  And to process that loss we have the grieving process.  If we were aware of the other levels of being, what Jesus referred to as the “many mansions” in the Father’s House, perhaps we would not have cause to grieve the passing of form and could see it as a birthing process into another level of life experience.  Life, after all, is eternal . . . is it not?

Speaking of dying as we live, one of John’s friends recently shared a quote that describes how John lived and died:

“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘What a ride!'”

John slid into Home plate after running all the bases.  He was only fifty-eight, so he must have hit a home run early in life, because I don’t think he sat on any of the bases.  He was always on the move helping his fellow-man, and changing the world as he went from one ingenious invention to another innovative project.  His last project was as part of team who created a machine called Straw-Jet that turns agricultural residue, such as rice and wheat straw, into building materials,  specifically, but not exclusively, targeting third-world countries.  His most notable invention, however, is the “Sunny-John” which embodies a technology for recycling human waste into manure.  His love was permaculture and he left several such gardens behind him during his journey. He was exceedingly well-gifted with a “green thumb” and knew innately how plants belonged together symbiotically (in close beneficial relationships).  That was his forte and legacy for which he will long be remembered by many.

The ultimate “cure” of disease

Getting back to our blog theme . . . historically, death has been relegated to the morbid and macabre, an event to be feared and staved off for as long as possible.  Certainly as something unhealthy.  We’ve even invented and dedicated an entire industry to keeping death away from our door as long as possible . . . and, for the rich and well-insured, at whatever the cost . . . and cost it does, plenty these days . . . sometimes the equivalent of an arm and a leg, like a donor’s heart or kidney.   That said, I am thankful, as I’m sure our friend was, for the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory drugs Medicine  provides that helps make the dying process physically, mentally and emotionally bearable and comfortable.  Comfort is a good thing.  We all need that in times of distress, and especially in terminal illness and the dying process.  It’s what we seem to do best as humans.

But what is death, actually (if you will allow me to muse and ponder a bit)?   A colleague once described death as “part of the healing process” and a final resolution and “cure” of disease.  And so it may well be when you stop to think about it.  Tumors stop growing when there is no more life from which to steal sustainable energy.  Bacteria, of course, remain.  But, then, bacteria are natural and essential to all life processes, both integrative and disintegrative.  Mother Earth can put them to good use without Herself becoming infected.  Mothers are natural healers.

Tumors, on the other hand, are thieves . . . unnatural growths outside the creative design of life for flesh.   I’ve seen them described as embryonic masses growing outside of a womb, an unwelcome guest in our house of being.  Death of the host terminates their occupancy.   Of course there are certainly other “cures” and resolutions to the diseased state where the host survives the crisis . . . for a season anyway, until another crisis comes along that threatens to resolve itself through death.   Either way, the healing process prevails.  Life goes on at yet other levels and dimensions.

To make whole

Healing means to make whole that which was previously fragmented, broken, disconnected or dismembered, and therefore dysfunctional.   Healing is a re-membering process whereby what belongs together is allowed to be together – much like the plants and trees in Cruickshank’s permaculture gardens –  as a whole entity that’s an integral and essential part of a larger Whole.   Some call it “God” or the “Great Spirit.”  By whatever name called, the larger Whole is what we each are a part of naturally and whatever would keep us from playing our destined roles in that Whole is inevitably and naturally re-solved . . . returned to a solvent state, such as earth and water, where it can once again participate in creation.   From “dust to dust,” as Christians are reminded with ashes on their foreheads every year.   But the spirit returns to a liberated and functional role as part of the greater Whole; returns to God who created it and maintains its existence.

In this light, death can be seen and embraced by us as part of the healing process . . . and the word itself, like the dying process, could stand to be cleared of its karma and given a noble place in our culture and vocabulary, as well as in our lives.  Death, then, looses its sting as it is healthfully and joyously embraced.  Hospice is a promising step in that direction.

While sitting with our friend at his deathbed, I was moved to talk about his final step into the unknown and how he was about to have all his questions about death and what’s beyond answered.  As awkward as it was at first to even breech the delicate subject, especially with one who was not able to communicate verbally his desire to go there, I felt a certain ease and welcome energy coming from him.   Afterwards, I thought how appropriate it could be to engage the dying, while they are yet able to do so, in a conversation around the theme of preparation for death as a rite of passage.  A conversation that would, first of all, acknowledge and connect with the angel incarnate who is experiencing, even orchestrating, the process of transition, and one that would evoke the conscious participation of the angel who is about to shed the dis-eased earthly form and take on a lighter one, one that will give the angel freedom to move about with ease.  Perhaps using music or the sacred sound of quartz crystal or Tibetan bowls accompanied by toning or chant that would help create ritual space for the generation of buoyant substance for a robust send off.  Or even group song and dance to celebrate the momentous event of final passage and transition.   While such ritual is being used in indigenous as well as some contemporary settings, I would welcome seeing more of this become part of our way of doing things here in the West and throughout the modern world.

And who knows but what this may well open the way for an unveiling of the mystery of death itself and ultimately eliminate its necessity?!  We would simply ascend, taking our bodies with us to a higher vibratory level, leaving nothing behind to be recycled.   I envision a ritual space created specifically for this purpose, just as I envision the creation of such a crucible for facilitating incarnation, a vibrational vesica pices (womb) for the birth of new form.  It’s all in the Divine Design for the process of transmutation and transition from one level to another.  We can agree to let it be so and it will come about.  It’s where we are headed in the new cosmic cycle underway, a theme I expand on in Sacred Anatomy – Where Spirit and Flesh Dance in the Fire of Creation. We are in for a new ride on this earth plane and it’s best to let go of the old and let go to the new.

Here’s to your ride!
